1
F"ashpee Conservation Commission
Meeting of July 10, 1986 EXECUTIVE SESSION
Page 3.
Louise Behrman. "He felt we should reorganize. He wanted to see an estab-
lished
sta -
1ished list of administrative procedures . He felt that as the appointing
body, a Board of Selectmen might request this and he also felt that as the
appointing body, the Selectmen are entitled to set the date for meeting with
the Commission and he stated emphatically he was not going to come to the
Conservation Commission like they had done a few weeks ago and that from
here on in we were going to come to them when they so requested."
Carol Jacobson: "He started he was very dissatisfied some member didn' t
feel this meeting was important enough and didn' t come at their bidding.
That really was sort of a mix-up because I , personally, didn' t stop and t
think that we, as the Conservation ConTnission , couldn' t call off a meeting-
that they, as Selectmen , had called. It was only when I didn't get a call
from March advising me one way of the other that I took it upon myself to
call the el ectmens " office and find out what was happening."
Louise Behrmarn: "And I did the sane thing. "
Stephen anTol : "Aw lot of tunes when one group is trying to get toqether with
another, don' t they try to find out what is the best day? It would seem to
me that they would tray to get it so the entire board could meet on a certain
Wednesday. I 'm gust asking as far as procedures."
Elliot Rosenberg : "That' s something that should be taken up. It would seem
to me that' s a little bit outside the purview of this executive session. . That
is something that should be taken up by the Chairperson of the Commission with
the Selectmen and I don 't think that while we can di cuss it, !.. don't think it
would be proper~ for us to set a standard or direct the Chairman in that respect.
I think it becomes a ratter. of negotiation and whoever the Chairman of the comm-
ission is , has the responsibility- to do the negotiating. I think we ought, to
stay with the problem which has been ra i sed here by this demand or,and I use
the term demand advisedly, only becuase it is in the memorandum. As to what
this commission will do With respect to the demand to reorganize, we should
stay strictly with that issue for the moment.
Does anyone have any further~ comments with respect to the demand of the Sel-
ectmen that the Conservation Commission immediately reorganize?"
Louise eh rman: "My only comment is I don' t see that it serves us any good
to get sato a head-on confrontation with the Selectmen on this issue."
Gerald Sprout: "I feel we should comply with their request."
Mr. Rosenberg : "Is there anyone who would like to make an.y motion with respect
to reorganization of the Conservation Commission , either yea or nay?"
Carol Jacobson ; "I would like to make a motion we comply with the S l ectmen '
request, or demand as it would be, to reorganize at this point in tine." .
