ASH EE CONSERVATION! COMMISSION
{
Meeting of August 7, 1.986
, 4
PRESENT: V. Louise Behrman, Gertrude Ferriday, Carol Jacobson, March du o t,
Mary Brown and Stephen VanTol .
ABSENT: Elliot Rosenberg.
A landscaping pl ars for Jack [dozes was presented to the commission by Stephen
VanTol . There was a question of a proposed deck not formally shown on the
plans. It was stated all natural materials will be used.
Ms Behrman reported on the meeting with the Selectmen and the package of forms
presented to them. The Selectmen made a suggestion that a special meeting be
called with the Commission, to insure familiarization with the materials and
also that a place should be available in -Town Hall for all forms to be picked
up. It was noted they are available in the Town Clerk's Office, as well as
from the Conservation Officer.
The seventh member to be suggested for the Mashpee River Sub-Committee is
Earl Mills Jr. A letter from the Conservation Commission will be sent t
each member.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
FOX RUN: Ed Donnelly , Planning Consultant with Cape Cod Survey presenting.
. Donnelly stated that one of the reasons for their~ appearance tonight was
to open a line of communication between the Commission and the owners and
consultants . They will be coming before the Board with several tiers of
wetland projects. There 1*.--) a total of approximately 380 acres ; 7 acres in
Barnstable, 373 in Mashpee. They are proposing dwelling units 167 will be
condos in three villages, the first between route 28 and Sampsons Mill Rd,. , the second just south of Quinaquisset Ave, and the third south of Quinaquisset
and westerly side of Quakers Run. There will be 373 single favi ly house lots ,
an 18 hole golf course and country club. They are looking at a water supply
well and an on site sewage treatment plant. The wet lands on the site have
been broken down into four categories ; the Santui t River, acture cranberry
bogs , overgrown cranberry bogs, a series of shrub swamps , salt marsh and
coastal bark along Shoestring Bay.
They are going to set aside approximately 80 acnes of upland natural open
space and 120 acre golf course which will include some open spaces . The
width to each hole on the course is 250 f . , the fairway is 100 ft. and 25 ft,
rough on either side, o 50 ft. beyond that will be natural open space, but
is part of the golf course.
They envision three tiers of wetland p mit applications . First for the re-
habilitation
-
habilitation of the cranberry bogs located south of Quinaquisset Ave. This
- application wi 1.1 be presented within days. This will be regardless of the
Planning Board approval on any other~ thing in this project. That is a sep-
arate issue from the development of Fox Run. The second tier~ will be after
preliminary okays and they may wait until further along in the-special permit
process will be for the golf course, which will be beyond the 100 ft. buffer
setback from the wetlands a-yeas and will be adjacent to that 100 ft, buffer.
