r
Conservation commission
Meeting of August 7, 1986
Page 2.
k
Fox Run - Continued:
They do not intend to touch the steep banks l ng the Snti t River, 7here may
be some foot path construction at the top of the bare .
In the areas of the working bogs and those presently overgrown, three -golf - ol- s
will be built north of Quinaquisset and three others with two others adjacent to
the buffer area south of Quinaquisset. They will be removing trees and shrubs,
planting grasses and reeds and other shrubs and flowers. Some regrading ..,dor
construction of tees and greens will be done. No bogs will be filled, nor any
of the wetlands , but they will be working within the 100 ft. buffer. Golf holes
in the area will be playing over the bog which itself will be out of bounds.
Dan Hostetter, one of the owners of the project, stated they have a l ease - ree-
ment with Bob Mallett on the northerly side of the Quinaquisset property and he
has the management lease on that portion of the cranberry bogs.
Mr. Donnelly stated that in this phase of development the Fire Department and
Planning Board has expressed interest in keeping Bryan s cove Road open -for
emergency access to these cul de Sacs at the end. The Fire Department -fs,tated
they need a travel way 8-10 ft. wide, clearance from trees approximately 12 ft.
wide and 12 ft. high which will necessitate some improvements to the present
crossing over Bryants cove Rd. They do not intend to fill any wetlands, but
will be regrading and repai-ring the existing crossing.
The lower cul de Sao falls within 100 ft, of the salt marsh. Three condos --are
at the edge of the 100 ft. buffer and those condos and any single' family lots
would fall within 100 f . of the coastal bank, but well in excess of 100 ft.
from the Bay and this will only occur~ at Shoestring Say which will be the
third tier of permitting.
The golf course filing will come into focus within 6-12 months. They are meting
with the Planning Board on September 10.
The present location of the tees and greens are set. The amount of clearing in
putting the fairways together is stili a graphic. The golf course architect
wants to get onto the s i to and i f there are some 1 arge trees he woul d tend to
o around them and adjust the clearing line accordingly.
In third tier permits , adjacent to the Club House, it is their intention to
build a small fire pond which would probably occur within the 100 ft. buffer
to the cranberry bog and would provide fire fl.ow for the club House -area.
omme-its from the commission were requested at this point.
John var onda advised- that on the 29th of July he viewed the site. He stated
he was impressed with the project. He questioned the use of fertilizer arra
pesticides for the bogs and the fertilization of greens and the effects - n
ground water quality , both the fresh water in Quaker Run and also , the -dumping
of chemicals s into Shoestring Bay. concerning the on site waste system, oround
water flow would have to be considered.
Mr. Donnelly stated if DEQE does not require that a sewage treatment plant bee
put i n, they will not go to the expense. As far as ground water issues,, prior
to the State issuing a permit for the plant, a ground water~ discharge .permit
must be obtained and it must be proved to DEQE that ground water quality will
not be adversely affected.
