CONSERVATION COMMISSION `# Meeting September 4, 1986 - Present: V. Louise Behrman, Gertrude Ferriday, March du Pont, Carol Jacobson., Stephen VanTol . Also present was John Iia rkonda. 't _4; ';. Absent: Mary Brown and El l iot Rosenberg, ly,- Verne Polka appeared before the Board to give a run-down on the organ i a i a.T structure. She stated the Board is an appointed Board, appoi9nted by the Sel- *- e tmen. John Varkonda 'is an appointed employee. There is a definite separ. a.t ion between the functions of the Commission and the Conservation Officer. . i ; controlled by the Selectmen in doing his job,and maintaining his budget. Wi: regard to Conservation 'issues, orders of Conditions, etc. , it is up to ,5 {3 Commission to direct h ire to see that these are carried out. Re Conservation Bogs , Mrs. Polka suggested a special account be set up so the-t some of the income from the bogs be set aside to take care of the debt when it comes due. She suggested the Selectmen be made aware of any potential problem. She asked ed i f there are any plans for marking trails on Conservation Lards. pu'r,- ha ed and was informed this 'is being considered. She stated the Trust Fund is available if there is evidence of activity i n this area Town of Mash ee dater Commissioners : Cont i need until the end of the hearings. Gertrude Ferri day stated that an Environmental impact Study should be requested for the Pox Run Development because of the ground water concerns. A► letter t BEM was discussed. A memo to the- Planning Board was dictated asking them t join the Conservation Commission i n making a request for this study. i V TE: Motion made and seconded to accept the minutes of August 7, as written. Mr. Costa stated the septic sys- tem y -tam is the same and in the same place and the leaching fa i i ty is not moving or i nc rea i ng i n size, A variance has been received from the Board of Health and this project has been app r-roved under one Notice of Intent and order- of Conditions . The house is larger and the 'impact', if any, will be along the back of the house. A retaining wall is at the walk out level of the rear of. the house and the deck at the first floor. There wil-1 be no fi 1 i on the outside of the retaining wall towards the water,' but than will be fill on the inside. The foundation will be exposed with lattice work to cover the concrete. It was noted this house was not staked .on the lot.
