Also present was
John Varkonda.
Absent: March du Pont.
The meeting was called to order at p.m.
7:30 - John M. Bolger, 520 Triton flay. To construct a stone revetment on a
coastal bank to protect a house built ,before 1978, Bob Bu rgmann of Holmes
McGrath presenting. A list of abutters and receipts was presented.
,John Varkonda advised Mr. Bolger was before the Commission pre iousiy for the
revegeta t i on of a gully. It was decided to amend the Order of Conditions to
exclude the condition that precludes a seawall or revetment. Revegetation has
not taken place as the order was under appeal due to that condition. Mr. Bolger
is aware he is in a position to go forward.
Mr. Bu rgmann stated the revetment is being run up to the loo year flood elevation
as revalued by F I iA since the original rip rap was set. Concerning the erosion
gully, Mr. Burgmann Mated this was caused by the pool cleaning people.
Mr. Rosenberg questioned what will happen with a diversion of force into the
gully.
John advised there is a revetment on lot 521 . Lot 51"9 has a free coastal bank
but would be eligible for a revetment.
Ms Behrman questioned whether fir. Bolger is going to contribute to New eabury ' s
beach nourishment program and how the stones will be roved to the bank.
Mr. Bu rgmann stated the stones would be moved along the beach. Neither he nor
Mr. Bolger were aware of the program but he felt sure ter. Bolger would be amenable
to this condition to obtain access . his Behrman stated documentation of this would
be required if Mr. Bolger has permission to go over the beach.
Concerning construction , the Commission was advised filter l o h will be used in
back of Che ,Mone but no Concrete or mortar is in the design. The work wi 1 1 be
done from the bottom of the bank upward with a minimum of f i l ling and a small
area at the top to be renege to ted.
Ms ehrman expressed concern with the ending on the reserved area and asked if the
revetment could be toed out more to stabilize the gully. Mr. Burgmann stated he
would approach the client and as the reserved area is legally- under the control
of New Seabury as part of their drainage sys tem they should not object to this
as it would be to the mutual ben.ef i t of both parties . he will pursue this and
requested the hearing be continued indefinitely.
It was noted permission would be required also from the Triton Sound Association.
HEARING CONTINUED INDEFINITELY.
