ash pe e C ons e rvat i on Commission <br /> Meeting of November 7. 1985 <br /> Page Seven <br /> As there were no further~ questions , comments r discussion, the <br /> Chairman declared the hearing closed and stated that the proposal <br /> will be taken under advisement. <br /> . <br /> George Berkowitz (BSC Cape Cod Survey Consultants - Agent <br /> This proposal is to construct a rip-rap revetment along the base <br /> of the currently severely eroding bark on Lot #84 Triton Way. <br /> Peggy Collins , representative # c h agent , presented plans . She <br /> stated that there is n on-going erosi <br /> an problem at this site and <br /> conditions are gorse and more of a, problem after each storm. she <br /> said that the applicant has tried non-structural methods t ' contain <br /> this severe erosion and these methods have failed. he has repaired <br /> the bank at least four times . The Chairman asked how this previous <br /> con-tairu ent failure is documented. Ms . Collins replied that at this <br /> hearing, she had no means of documenting this except by telling the <br /> Commission that this 1s s o. she will provide a. written statement if <br /> required to do so , Ms . duPont said that a statement is not required. <br /> Ms . Collins continued, "It is currently failing after Hurricane <br /> .. Gloria, and it is the feeling of the applicant and our engineers <br /> that a structural solution is necessary and we have provided the <br /> most envirormenta lly sensitive plan that we can come up with. It <br /> calls for a slope that is suitable for being set into the bank, It <br /> is a slope that will dissipate wave energy. It is a, 2�-to-1 slope . <br /> The structure is tied into existing structures on the bead and tapers <br /> down on the applicant' s property so that it goes below the present <br /> grade of the beach and beach nourishment sands can or will be pro- <br /> vided at the end of the structure to further mitigate any anticipated <br /> , problems . <br /> The house was built prior to 1978. There are two possible accesses <br /> one being by Tide watch and one could possible be at T ritori Sound . <br /> There is ars easement by the Nirenberg property. There is no wall <br /> on the abutting side . <br /> The Chairman an asked , "What is the Situation here that you feel that <br /> rip-rap is necessa.ry. <br /> Ms . Collins replied, "The vegetation hasn' t been holding for moderate <br /> or severe storms . Itts being attacked at the base , It is not able <br /> to be stabilized by a non-structural solution, " <br /> MSO Collins stated that the Tide watch access is an established <br /> access now that the Condominiums are there , <br /> Mse duPont stated that an Order of Conditions has been previously <br />
