Mashpee Conservation Commission <br /> Meeting of April 1 , 1987 <br /> Page 4. <br /> Richard Ha 1 p r i n asked to come forward to view the plans. He stated he felt <br /> the sailboat would be better moored on the dock than at the present mooring . <br /> It was noted the river. is approximately Zoo feet wide at that point. <br /> HEARING CLOSED - ORDER of CONDITIONS WITHIN 21 DAYS . <br /> 30 - John HaHcanson, 290 Bayshore Drive. A letter was received from the <br /> engineer, Wm. M. Wa rw i ok Assoc. , requesting postponement. This w i 1 1 be heard <br /> on Apra 1 30, at 7:45 p.m. <br /> 45 - Thornton Burgess so i e'ty (StuartParsons) To construct and maintain <br /> a maximum of four osprey nesting platforms along the Ma hpee River on Conser- <br /> vation land. John Varkonda presenting . All work to be done by hand, vol - <br /> unteer <br /> ol - <br /> nte r group of -high school students under supervision will be involved. <br /> drawing of the platform was presented. He advised the impact on the marsh <br /> will be minimal and work should be accomplished in 1 -1 hours. ' There are <br /> some of these platforms in Westport and on Mashburn Island also. Two. s t ten <br /> have been chosen and input from the Mashppe River Woodlands Committee will <br /> be requested for approval of the other two sites. <br /> HEARING CLOSED - ORDER of CONDITIONS WITHIN1 DAYS. <br /> r <br /> Will iam' Martel ros came before the Com i ss ion ' to advise his property has been eroded <br /> an area of ' x 140 ' from the last storm. He resides on Johns Pond. He read from <br /> documents dated 1979 re elevation of the pond and referring to Chapter 91 General <br /> laws. e stated i ne the town has control of the bogs at each end of the pard <br /> they have con t ro 1 over the s p i I 1 way. He quest i oned the 1 ega 1 res pons i b i I i ty of <br /> the town for damages . <br /> Ms Behrman stated an opinion would be -sought from Town Counsel . she reques teal <br /> a copy of the documents Mr Marte i ros referred to. Mr. Tarte i ros refused and <br /> stated Ernest V i rg i 1 1 o has a copy. <br /> Ms Beh rman stated a copy of Town. Counsel 's opinion wm i d be forwarded to Mr. <br /> a rte i ros when received . <br /> John read a memo from Town Planner re a water supply well on Conservation land <br /> on site T-5. Th 'r s is a 36 acre parcel on the East side of Pro i sy Hole Road. It <br /> is proposed for D .L. Maher Inc. to drill one -112' test well on the parcel in- <br /> dicated. <br /> n- <br /> di ated. In addition to the well , clearance of a small path will be required <br /> for access which has been viewed by the Conservation Officer. The request is <br /> for Conservation Commission permission as soon as possible and for the Officer <br /> to oversee the operation. <br /> VOTE: Motion made and seconded to approve the request by Town Planner to <br /> allow drilling of one 2-1/2'' test well on Conservation Land. <br /> It was noted if this is a vilable well and the town were to use this as a .sup1l <br /> well , under the statutes governing Conservation land , a water supply is not a <br /> use. It would require turning the parcel over to the town. <br />
