Melvin and Marcella Bradshaw
To construct a wood dock and float at 15 Poppon sse t Island Toad,
Popponesset Bari
Tina Baylog from All Cape 'Survey represented the Bradshaws. Stated that
she had taken new measurements and that the original markers were not
placed so that the dock would 90 straight out into the water .
Louise read a letter of objection from Mr . and Mrs. Sham i sh re negative
environmental impact . Also a letter from neighbors of the Br adsh a s,
Ir . and Mrs. Joseph Pepperella as to the good character of the
Brads aws.
Louise then read Lisa's Co enis re shellfish beds, the adverse effect
on land fisheries boating that would impact them negatively. She
recommends pier and float be den i ed r She suggests that a stairt.-jay be
applied for to allow the Bradsha s easier access to their beach .
Mark Howland, --------- Research Corp . When they first did the on-site ,
stales seemed to be parallel . Second time thev went to do work for the
environmental impact statement, stakes were gone . The third time stales
were in but appeared to have been moved.
Mr . Bruce Bradshaw - We have reconfigured the dock so that people can
walk under i t . (Tina started grafi the elevation of the 4loat at mean 1-mv
tide is about 3 feet . )
Paul Sommerville , Shellfish Warden - There are three different shellfish
populations that would be adversely affected. Ooft-hell clams, a# ag
and scallops will be coming i n, He also does not agree with the depths
in the plans, At 70 foot mark, his deputy was in 10 inches of water; at
100 feet the deputy was in only 0 inches of water from the high tide
mark . In front and to the north of the Bradshaw propert;/ there is a
depression that is dead - no shellfish could l i a there . n/
possibility of placing do_ck there's
Mr. Bradshaw stated that there was or i g i nal l y a channel where Paul was
speaking o that was 6 feet deep, and now probably only - feet deep a
couple of hours after high tide .
Paul stated that he was only waste deep in water out at 150 foot mark .
The Br adsh auts have t eir mooring which is in about 4 feet of water . Th e
l oat's in verx shallow water , Will be on the bottom or close to bottom
a lot of the time . This could also effect fin fish . The act i i t,
associated with the dock , boating, is the main parol e . The structure
is mainly a matter of convenience so they don' t have to use their dingy
to get to their boat , This is shallow water - an veth i ng other than a
small outboard skiff i s going to cause significant damage o t h e
prospect of any shellfish resource in the entire approach zone uszed by
the Bradsha rs, from the end of the dock , twentv five feet in either
direction and all the way out to where they can reach deep enough water .
Even at high tide they are going to experience prop wash or scouring,
