10
P
ATLA C DESIGN & CONSTRU N INCe
October 30, 1984
Mr. Aaron cohere
Triple A Engineering
P. o. Box 7149
Warwick, RI 02887
Dear Mr. Cohen.
The situation regarding site work is frustrating for all of us. In
large measure this frustration comes about because the building had
to be moved slightly (40'-0"). Masachi corporation has addressed
four letters to you relative to this subject.
September 24, 1984-relative to fill to raise the level of the floor
of the building by 21-011. This was done to ease the burden of
excessive quantities of fill having to be removed around the entire
site to achieve the lower level of finish grade by lifting its grade
by V-0". This larger volume of fill was abrogated. However* at a
meeting of the building committee, you agreed to allow the work to be
done at no cost because of the anticipated cost savings by not having
to remove so much extra fill .
September 28, 1984-relative to movement of building on site. We object
to the mobilization charges because there is still work on the basic
contract that can and should be done not related to the location of the
building or the decision thereto. We feel we have noir come to a decision
that allows this work to proceed. We believe that you had to clear ars
extra 112 acre of land to accommodate the move, and may yet need to clear
2,000 square feet of land of trees to accommodate excess fill being
pushed into the hallow to the north Iof the site, since excess material
was s pec i fi ed to be removed from the site and we are still not removing
any fill frdm t.he... site nor are we even removing stumps; instead, they
are allowed to be buried. The town feels that at the very most the
clearing of extra trees seems justified at $1,900 balanced against a
credit of $1,965 for not having to remove material from the site as
near as 1 can interpret this letter. This seems to say, therefore t
that dine'to moving the building there is an excess of 633 yards beyond
what was originally estimated due to the changes in site for a cost of
$2,374, which we hope can be ameliorated by allowing this excess to be
moved to the hollow to the north of the building instead of off-site
removal .
continued..... 4
I u stria!Park Rc d Asim 9 Phmmxft,M --ith u soft 02360•617/7464700
