AMENDED
PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING COMMITTEE
MEETING OF NOVEMBER 7s 1984
The following members of the Public Works Building Cori ttee were present for the
meeting hold at the Mashpee Town Hall : Samuel C. Re, Anthony Fi orenti ni , Chester
Brown, Chester Sheets , John Wyllie,.Ernest Virgilio and Joe Di Magg i o.
Ellis Laycock was also present.
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m t
Ellis informed the committee the total excess fill is now 2-3,000 }yards less than
the original amount of 11 ,000 figured. With the building at the same location,
it would have been 19,000 yards. By raising the building two feet, the excess
was brought down to 8-9,000 yards,
Concerning the outside lighting, Ellis stated he would like to see sodium vapor
lights i nstal l_ed and is trying to balance the cost by changing other fixtures
that can be downgraded inside the building. He informed the committee it is
more economical to install 1 fights -on the building rather than freestanding.
Ellis stated Ernie Virgil io originally asked for only four double-faced lockers
and the locker room will not hold 15 lockers. There are several locations where
they can be placed in the building.
Joe 9iMagg io questioned the large space above the doors which would increase
heating costs.
Ellis stated the wall is 22 feet high, a two foot clearance when a dump truck
is rai sed in the building. He suggested the heating cost can be reduced with
a fan.
Ernie Virgilio stoted he will install the lockers i n the building when they
are del i vered.
John Wyl l ie pointed out on page C of the minutes of November 1 , paragraph 8,
the 2 x 5 cap plates were treated, not beams.
Paragraph 5, page 5 of the minutes was amended for clarification of content.
VOTE-, Moved and seconded to accept the minutes of November 1 , -as amended
Unanimous vote.
Com i ttee Reports
AnthonyFiorentinii resented a bill from American Engineering & Testing dated
October 25, 1984, in the amount of $200.40.
