r
PUBLIC 'WoRCSS BUILDING COMMITTEE
MEETING of NOVEMBER 13, 1984
The following members of the Public Works 'Bu i 1 di ng Committee were present for
the meeting held at Mash pee Town Hall : Samuel C. Re. John Wyl 1 i e, Chester
Brown, Chester Sheets , doe DiMagg io and Anthony Fi orenti ni .
Ellis Laycock and Verne Polka were also present.
The meeting was called to order at 76,00 p.m.
Ellis advised the committee the site work will be settled this weep. Either
Masaschi will finish, or Aaron Cohen and Jack Cartier will have a new man on
the job. If the other contractor comes in high, Masaschi will be back-charged.
Shop drawings were submitted to El 1 i s by Masaschi via Aaron Cohen. The sub-
mission
ub-
mission for the gas trap was actually a mar hole and was not approved. The man
hole can be made into a gas trap, or the gas trap can be built fn the field
with block and made waterproof and watertight, It does -not have to be precast.
The septic tank and leaching pit for the septic tank were approved. The leaching
pit for the gas trap is approved. They did not submit a drawing of the distrib-
ution
istrib-ution box. A drawing of the well pit was b x 6, not the 8 x 8 specified. They
were told if they could assure that all the materials would go inside a b x 6
pi t, a credit would be considered,
The committee agreed that a b x b pit would not be acceptable and that the
B x 8 should be required.
Mr. Re pointed out that these items were scheduled for completion on September 150
John Wyllie stated no easement should be given on the gas trap and it should be
done as shown on the specifications.
Ellis distributed copies of the requisition for payment and copies- of the change
orders with the contractor's signature. The two approved change orders are in-
cluded
n-
cluded for payrient i n this requisition.
The committee rev i eWed, individual items and was not in agreement with the gC
completion shown for site preparation
Ellis advised the 5 retainage on the total contract can be used for any de--
fi ci-enci es, on any facet of the job. He stated the expans ion. join't comes ander
- the heading of the retainage. The contractor has to correct it,
Mr. Re asked Ellis to give a copy of the requisition for payment to Leo Sweeney
for his review prior to presenting to the committee.
Ellis commended the contractor for taking the b out, as most contractors want
the total change order paid up front, with no withholding.
