MASH.PCC PUBLIC WORKS 13 ILDING COMMITTEE
MEETING of MAY 155 1985
The following members of the Public Works Building Committee were present
for the meeting held at the Public Works Building: Samuel C,, Re, Chair-
man ,
hair-
man , John Wyllie, Chester Sheets,, Chester Brown and Anthony Ei orentin i .
Also present were Ellis Laycock and Dennis Scannell . Aaron Cohen was on
the premises with workmen tending to the punch list and was in attendance
intermittently.
The results of a water analysis for the test well put in by Mr. Scannell
were presented to the co1iii-ni ttee. A comparison was made of the test well
readings to the present well tests.
Test Well Present Well
Sodium 8.0 19
Iron 0,13 4.8
conductivi ty 108.0 41 0
Mr. Scannell advised he tried at 75' and 63' and the water was bright red.
The good water was at 103 feet from the top of the finished grade, The ref-
erence
eference point i s 8-9 feet. He further stated the present well is at a depth
of 80 feet. He agreed to leave the test well' in until the committee is sat-
isfied.
Aaron Cohen asked if the building committee was satisfied that the specs
have been met and would accept the work by Pilgrim Pump.
Ellis stated the work, to the extent done, i s acceptable but Bishop has not
fulfilled his contract. To obtain acceptable water he had to go 110 feet
below finished grade. He agreed to talk with Mr. Bishop with this report
in hand. Mr. Bishop has previously agreed to provide good water,
Answering Mr. Cohen, Mr. Scannell stated he felt it was the permanent pump
that was in but there is no way of telling. The pump was set by L. Wile
& Son of Plympton.
Mr. Cohen stated he has received no close out documentation from any of the
subs and, from experience, has found the only way to get this i s to withhold
a suhstanti al amotint. He stated he requires "Ac built" drawings and a one
,year guarantee in writing and the manufacturer's warantee on the pump to
close out the paper work for the well .
It was noted the precast is in the site man' s contract.
The committee concurred Mr. Bishop's work was not acceptable as substantially
completed and that he must go deeper to find acceptable water.
Aaron Cohen asked if Bishop does not return what the approximate charge would
be for Scannell to cone back and adjust the well , give papers and sketches,
