Publ is Works Building Committee
Meeting of May 15, 1985
Page 2.
Mr. Scannell suggested L. Wile come back and start over. It was his opinion
if the original wel 1 had gone down another 10 feet the water would have been
good, If the well i s put in at 103 feet the water should be good.
Ellis advised the town test wel 1 , whose information was in the specs. , went
down 100 feet with the claim of excellent water which set the base for 100( .
That well would have been at finished grade. When the location was changed
it would be g feet below finished grade.
It was noted the present level of the parking lot i s approximately 56.
Aaron Cohen stated the problem is due to an oversight on the part of 'rri pl e A
and the sub-contractor. A shop drawing should have been submitted before the
work commenced and as this was not done , George Bishop proceeded at his own
risk per general conditions of the contract; Triple A should have caught it
and stopped him, but didn't.
Aaron cogen and El l i s Laycock were i n agreement that it wool d be reasonabl e
for Triple A to withhold $1000. on Bishop' s base bid until he satisfies the
specs. #fir* Cohen agreed to proceed on that basis,
Mr. Cohen asked the committee if there was any possibility of backcharges
from the occupant due to the iron oxide residual problem from the the well
not being drilled deep enough which might have caused damage, lie requested
a letter from the building committee assuring that if Mr. Bishop adjusts
the well to the level requested and brings in good water there would be
no backcharges
Concerning the leak on the roof,, he advised they are going to do an actual
water test on i t. They are also going to caulk wl th s i 1 i cone. He seated
there should be a cover over the fan.
Mr. Scannell stated he did not feel the fixtures could have been damaged
in this short period of time and when good water flows the fixtures wil1
be cleaned.
It was agreed that if the well is put in at the level stated and good
water i s obtained, it will be assumed the requirements have been fulfilled
and the intent of the specs has been ret.
Ellis advised there will be one more check off on the punch list.
Mr. Cohen and Mr. Laycock expressed appreciation to the committee for the
time members spent at the building today to enable the work to continue.
Re the grading , Mr., cogen stated he has hired Labute and the removal is
5/8 complete. If the Highway Department completes the small amount of
grading to be done, he stated he would accept a billing per hour.
