AIS-Hoc COMMITTEE ON PLUMES IMPACTING MASHPEE MINUTES JUNE 41 1998 , 8: 30 a.m. Conference Room 2 , Mashpee Town Hall Greg Taylor , Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8 : 35 a*m. Present: Greg Taylor , Bob Crank., Nancy Caffyn, Bob Sherman, Perry Ellis , Russell Babcock, Bill Fisher. Absent, Elliot Rosenberg , Belo Whritenour,, Elias Mc wade , David Rich Greg T. suspended all i teens on the agenda to the next ineetin and turned the floor over to Bill Fisher of Woodard. and Curran Bill Fisher referred to his letter that was distributed to the committee summarizing the work completed on the water supplies , the plumes , and the closing of the sentinel well systems. In addition, there were recommendations for additional wells and sampling programs. The goal (as he sees it ) is to approach the military and DEP to pay for the costs associated with the clean-up of the plumes. Bill Fisher displayed several charts as follows : (1) current and Proposed Drinking dater Wells in Mashpee* ( ) Zone II Areas for Drinking Wells, (3) Plumes Status {based on current knowledge of known contaminated sources and associated plumes ) . -lo has two Lobes , one going southwest and another to Ashumet Pond. The military is doing a Pond study to make determinations , 'there is contamination along Hooppole Road (SB-5 area) . AFCEE is doing boorings in John' s Pond. There are some indications of under-.flow occurring, FS-1 is discharging i n the cranberry bog, and the interum solution is to put a berm across the bogs and to allow the water to be discharged down the Qua shnet River. JBT show's high concentrations of contaminants , and DEP believes most of it is discharging in the Pond. Bill, Fisher has seem no evidence of that. He is proposing some additional wells in this area, Nancy C■ noted at a meeting last night there was talk about a proposed treatment plant on the shore , and the discharge will not go 'into the Pond but rather to the side and to reinjection wells.
