21 March 1996
Page 3.
b&. Shennan reminded the Board of the precedent they would be setting to allow two
sW ways dowry an embat nent, this. would be the second one. The first one is not
inqnfing the marsh greatly but there is sparse vegetation under the, eNisting stairway and
there is no reason to have two sW ays through which. light will find it difficult to
penetrate and encourage growth on the coastal.bank. If the new stairway were permitted
with a couple of steps, not on the nunh, but, just opposite to step down on the marsh, your
would have no more impact on the marsh.
A& Sanicki stated one access is elevated fmie feet over the high water line; this part is up
off` the ground. There is a difference of grade of 23 feet Them is a 12 foot grade
differential. One does not get you to the ground.
Mr. Sherman stated they could put a step down.
IW. Desrosiers Mated they would need three or four risers. 1r. Sanicki stated it is 8.5 deck
cleation. They would be perpendicular.
1W. Sherman was concerned with the coastal bank, the sections under the stairway that are
not rccer*m*M the amount of light as if the sta Tway was not there.
fir. Green Mated the only problem is what the impact would be of removing this and
instWfin another. The new stair goes down through here, four feet off the ground. Thi
would be a disturbance removimg this and another putting in another stair. He felt there
would be more darnage done by rippmng it out
Public comment: none.
. Desrosiers asked if they would be willing to have codons stipulated that if the
state way ever has to be replaced, that it not be put at that location but where the Agent has
suggested, down from the side of the existing pier? &. Sanicki had no problem with that.
VOTE: Motion made and seconded to close pending Board of Appeals approval with the
inclusion in the.Order of Conditions that if the existing stairway should ever have
to be re la ed, that It be put why suggested by the Agent by a set of daim off
to the side of the new pier ending apprroima#ely at the location of the new one.
Unanimous vote.
CLOSED PENDING,
KENNETH NET I LIATSOS, 118 Shore Drive west, continued from 3/7/96- Mary
LeBlanc presenting. The biding is beyond the loo foot setback. The coastal bank is an
eroding unvegetat d bank. They propose to put down jute netting planted with beach
