4
CONSERVATIONCOMMISSION
,UNE 27 1996
PAGE TREE
7:30: David Anderson application for Determination of Applicability on a request
to permit and maintain a proposed dock at #33 Fiddler Crab Lane, Continued
from 5/30/96.
.Mr. Anderson was present. The application also included some landscaping
and a report from Ellis Allen.
Bob Sherman explained that we cane into this from a previously existing
situation where a pathway had been put in and Bob Gray was retained by
Mr. Anderson to make suggestions on how to stabilize that and the bank
above it. That was handled by agreeing to Bob, Gray's letter and is-
suing it as an Enforcement Order. The work completed by Mr. Anderson'
person; - there--appeared to be some Misunderstanding of what was indicated.
The work was not completed in a way that Bob Sherman could reca=end to
the co is ion at this time. There was supposed to be specific removal
of poison ivy to be reld with certain species of salt-tolerant
vegetation. From the photos it appears that the removal got a bit carried
away. The pre-existing conditions are shown, and the current conditions.
Bob Sherman recommended that it could be rectified. It is practically
stripped of ground cover now. Mr. Anderson has planned some Bayberry and
Rosa agoza' In the area abt. SC plants) which are suitable plants, however,
the area between those plantings is still bare. Bob Sherman recommended
the use of temporary stabiliz-ation with jute netting and straw and some
additional plantings. We are not -only talking about bank stabilization,
Dere, we are talking about out 50 foot buffer strip and wildlife habitat.
The things that Mr. Anderson has planted are suitable, there are only two
kinds and the density has not yet approached the-point where it is a
viable wildl if fe habitat.
Bob felt, if we could meet in the field and discuss some remediation for
those barea revs of plants, we would then incorporate that into an Order
f Conditions,
Moved to continue to July il, 1996, 7:50 BM t the request the applicant.
Seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. Matter is continued
