Proponents of dredging just <br /> the Mashpee River "know" that will solve the problem, but the dredging supervisor for the <br /> County dredge doesn't think it will make much difference,Dr. Joe Costa of the Buzzards <br /> Bay project doesn't think it will help much, and on the controversy goes. <br /> Hydrographic Analysis <br /> Bathymetric survey Popponesset bay, Mashpee River, Shoestring Bay, Ockway Bay. <br /> Plot contours <br /> Propose channel layout (staying out of Cotuit) <br /> Update Flushing Study with new data <br /> Conduct analysis of Mashpee River and Popponesset Bay from Hydrographic survey to <br /> explore 4 alternatives: <br /> a. Dredge mouth of Mashpee River from Main channel in Bay to Orsini Beach to the <br /> same depth as the main channel. <br /> b. Dredge from mouth of Mashpee River to Map 89 Lot 81 (Narrow spot just upstream <br /> from Wickel property.) <br /> c. Dredge from mouth of Mashpee River to Canaway's cove and around bend to <br /> incoming streams. <br /> d. Dredge from Sound channels to some point in Mashpee River depending on 1 - 3 <br /> above. <br /> Sediment Sampling <br /> Contact both State and Feds for Sampling Plan guidance. <br /> Develop Sediment sampling plan for Mashpee River and all other bays. <br /> Obtain approval of plans from ACOE and DEP <br /> Conduct sediment sampling but only sample Mashpee River and main channel <br /> Analyze sediments <br /> Grain-size histogram <br /> Chemical Analysis-Table I <br /> Total arsenic <br /> Total Cadmium <br /> Total Chromium <br /> Total Lead <br /> Total Mercury <br /> Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons <br /> Total PCBs <br /> Total PAHs <br /> Total VOCs <br /> Page 4 <br />
