4. At the present time any changes to bays, lakes, rivers, and other waterways require <br /> permitting and environmental reports. What experience in these fields can you bring to <br /> the Commission? <br /> Mr, Daly: Environmental reporting experience was associated with desert <br /> conditions,but the paperwork and bureaucracy are similar. <br /> Mr. Lumsden: Very little,but willing to learn and is interested in helping out. <br /> 5. The Commission also becomes involved with writing and reviewing proposals. Please <br /> describe your experience in writing proposals, reviewing proposals, and contract <br /> administration. <br /> Mr. Daly: Has experience in writing and evaluating requests for proposals. He is <br /> familiar as a civilian with responding to requests for proposals. <br /> Mr. Lumsden: Has no experience writing proposals, but has some experience <br /> reviewing them. Has experience with contracts. <br /> 6. The Commission often works closely with the Harbormaster in the selection and <br /> acquisition of equipment such as boats, motors,buoys, etc. Please describe your <br /> experience and abilities in equipment acquisition. <br /> Mr. Daly: Has evaluated equipment. Is knowledgeable about getting information <br /> for comparisons. Is willing to learn the technical aspect. <br /> Mr. Lumsden: Owned and operated his own fleet of school busses. Was <br /> responsible for purchasing equipment. <br /> The commission discussed at length the candidates responses. Dr. Gordon motioned to <br /> recommend Gerry Daly as their first recommendation and Mr. Paul Lumsden as their <br /> second recommendation. Mr. Fordham seconded. Motion carried. Unanimous <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Mr. George Benway sent a letter to the selectmen stating that he would be withdrawing <br /> his application for the current vacancy on the Waterways Commission. Mr. Benway <br /> stated that he felt the other candidates could contribute more time than he can. <br /> The board of appeals received a request from Mashpce Land Investment LP for a dock <br /> permit regarding property that consists of I I individually owned lots on Ockway Bay. <br /> There are six waterfront lots. The commission entered into a lengthy discussion about <br /> concerns of a dock this size. The concerns included: the development along the <br /> waterfront; dock presented was overpowering, and it is contrary to state <br /> recommendations. The commission discussed different alternatives that could be <br /> presented to the residents. It was decided that there was not enough information at the <br /> present time to make a decision. Dr. Gordon motioned for Mr. Hanks to write a letter to <br /> the Board of Appeals asking them to put this issue on bold. Mr. Silver seconded. Motion <br /> carried. The commission agreed that after the state issues were handled, the Waterways <br /> will help design the dock(s). <br /> 2 <br />
