r• <br /> Page 6 <br /> Waterways Commission <br /> Minutes-revised <br /> January 14, 1997 <br /> OLD B11SMSS., <br /> Motion made by Dr. Gordon to propose dredging of the <br /> Mashpee River with the up river boundary to be the south edge <br /> of the former Stenberg parcel, across river between boundary <br /> line parcels* Lot 26 and Lot 27 shown on Tax Map 91, down <br /> river 60'- 0' wide with a ' depth to a location at the main <br /> boating channel in Popponesset Bay near Gooseberry Island* <br /> The channel to be located in the approximate center of the river <br /> as determined by the engineers surveys. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. 'Taylor. <br /> VOT Unanimous. -0+ <br /> Discussion followed with regards to retaining guidance to assist with the <br /> technical aspects of the Request for Proposal. It was noted that the <br /> consultant,if retained,could not bid on the subject project proposal. <br /> Ir. Gordon indicated that a consultant is necessary to assist in the <br /> development of a comprehensive study of Popponesset Bay. our overall <br /> plan is to maintain the bay in perpetuity. In addition, assistance is required <br /> to structure payment schedules}progress reports and timetables noted <br /> Dr. Gordon. <br /> It is the consensus of the Commission to consult Cynthia Sturges, the <br /> Town's Community Development Administrator with respect to consulting <br /> assistance for the development of a study of Popponesset Bay; <br /> Former waterways Commission member,Michael Grouke,will also <br /> be contacted with regards to this nutter, <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> PN INIIPNNINNII IIIIIiIWYYNYW"' - <br /> I <br /> e--of kwav Bay Boat Rg=. <br /> ! ! 1 I 111 1111 li illllllli illlll Yi�ii11ir11iWi <br /> i <br /> Herb Silver indicated that he has received some opposition from area <br /> 1 <br /> residents with regards to the use of the Ockway Bay boat ramp. It was <br /> noted that an entity is applying for a permit to operate a canoe and kayak <br /> rental business at the ockway Bay boat landing. - <br /> The waterways Commission has discussed this matter at an earlier date, <br /> and submitted recommendations to the applicant with respect to water <br /> safety concerns. <br /> 1� <br /> 1 <br /> It is the consensus of the Commission to take this nutter under advisement. <br /> The Board of Selectmen are the regulatory agency, and Town Counsel <br /> should be consulted with respect to general liability issues. <br />
