MAHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION MINUTES APS 4, 1997 COMMISSIONERSPRESENT: Jim Hanks Chairman,Bert Gordon}Herb Silver}Fred Fordham., William Taylor, Don Lund Also present; Perry Ellis,Harbortnaster r Rick York Shellfish arrived at 7:10 p,m, i• t _ .ir' . Erie Smith Assistant Town Planner, arrived.at 7:25 p.m. 5.... ALL TO ORDER. Mr. Hanks called the meeting to order in Conference Room' #3 at Town.Hall at 7:05 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. MTE : The mutes of l arcli 4, 1997 were accepted as amended- OLD BUStNESS Barhwnaswr Re rt{ Ir. Ellis reported that the dredging is done. Pipe has been inoved from Waquolt Bay to Falmouth. Staircase is done at Wading Place Road. Had engine on Maritime skiff`rebuilt. Mr. Ellis also stated there is no money in new budget for parking lot attendant at the ashpee/wakeby boat ramp. Current position ends July 1. May try to get it funded through.Leisure Services. Mr. Ellis would like to sec it go out to a bidding process. Shellfish Report: Nair. York reported that there is cool water temperature and good water quality. Mashpee River has been clean for a month, It will be open for shell fishing from Orsini Beach dowry from April 5 through May I under the Division of Marine Fisheries. Nair. York tested after the rain storm and snow melting and it was really clean. Testing will continue during the open period(Division of Marine Fisheries and the shellfish lab) once per week and also during rain storms. lir. York stated the closing date is May I because it is based on the Division of Marine Fisheries historical data; they start getting their courts in May, Mr.York stated there was an error in the minutes of March 4} therefore Mr. Hanks made - a motion to amend the already accepted minutes to read(on page 3 under "Coastal Resources Element of the Local Comprehensive Plan% paragyraph ): "Mr. York stated this is illegal because only Selectinen can make this decision;". Motion was seconded by Dr, Gordon. Motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS Fresh water: Nor. Taylor reported that the tashpee-Wakeby Fake Management Committee had a meeting Wednesday. (Mr. Taylor is waterways rep). Three members present: Mr. McGonagle, Mr. Taylor, and Mr. Marsters. Discussion was on.problems.
