R <br /> MA HPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES FEBRUARY 3 , 1998 <br /> Chairman Jim Hanks called the meeting to order at 7 : 05 p}m, <br /> in. conference Room #3 , a shpee Town Hall * <br /> Present: Jim Hanks , Herb Silver, Gera l.d Daly , Fred Fordham, <br /> Bill Taylor, Paul Lumsden <br /> Absent: Lion .fund <br /> Other-. Rick York, Steve cadrin, Steven Hall , Hill BridLjes, <br /> George (chuckie) Green, Mark Burtis , Morris cassanell,i. <br /> PUBLIC OMMENT: The Shellfish Commission and Shellfish Constable <br /> were present to discuss shellfish grants and regulations and <br /> the proposed one-year moratorium on issuing any further grants <br /> (as requested by the Harbormaster so that suitable areas may <br /> be determined for aquaculture) . <br /> Steve cadrin, chairman of the Shellfish Commission, opened a <br /> ineeting of the Shellfish commission for the purpose of creatincj <br /> a ]o i nt meeting , and three shellfish grant applicants were also <br /> present to present their requests, <br /> Mr. cadrin hoped to iron out the issues , and he did not see <br /> a need for a moratorium,. He stated that the Shellfish commission <br /> chose not to put criteria In the shellfish regulations until <br /> recently, <br /> Rick York distributed drafts of Shellfish Aquaculture .license <br /> Requlat ions dated 2-3-98 and 1 -30-98 and a copy of a shpee ' s <br /> Private Shellfish License Procedure and Regulations from around <br /> 19726 <br /> Steve Ball stated he is going before the selectmen on February <br /> 3rd to get approval to float oysters in trays off Monomosco <br /> ( 3 . 75 acres ) . He plans to purchase 500 ,000 seeds to start* <br /> Mo cas sanel le stated he applied for a cjrant to float o sters <br /> off Monomoscoyacre) , <br /> Mr. cadrin noted the Shellfish Regulations of 1972 are currently <br /> in effect and presented them to Mr. Hanks . He stated they are <br /> reviewed annually.. <br /> Mr. Hanks then presented a -package he put together with the <br /> set of requirements from different agen ( i,e. DEP Corps <br /> i <br /> > of Engineers , CZM) , <br /> 1` <br /> r <br />
