f <br /> h <br /> WATERWAYS COMMISSION _ March 3, 1998 <br /> f <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> 1, Harbormaster-Report - Perry Ellis reported the dredge is in <br /> and work has been completed outside Popponesset Bay, During the <br /> last storm there were four overwashes at Popponesset Spit causing <br /> quite a bit of erosion, and the spit '.s being lost. <br /> Tomorrow there is a Conservation commission meeting at 10. 00 a.m. <br /> with Jacobs Engineer-i.ng regarding Johns Pond where 13 or 14 drill <br /> wells are to be installed. There will be staggered buoys with <br /> instructions "Do Not Disturb, " The plume has gone under the pond <br /> and come out the other side close to a major water supply,. <br /> A significant loss of sand has occurred at the South Cape Beach <br /> town parking lot* <br /> The Pump-out boat is being readied and will be going in shortly, <br /> The Honda outboard motors are on the boats. Activity is steady <br /> with moorings payments coming in. It' s still busy. We will wait <br /> until the end of April before any work is done on the parking <br /> lot* <br /> Committee Re P orts <br /> Fresh Nater - Mr. Taylor reported the Mashpee-Wa eby Management <br /> Committee meeting was a very short one as- there was not a quorum <br /> An upcoming meeting is scheduled this Thursday at 7 : 00 p.m. with <br /> the CoanCoin for those who are interested in attending. <br /> Jim McGonigle had mentioned that some signs are not when people <br /> will see them. They are up around the parking lot, Boating <br /> regulations are of a concern <br /> i <br /> Popponesset Ba - <br /> Mashpee.. Watershed Committee Mr, Hanks reported that Mr, Frye <br /> is was elected the new representative from the Board of Selectmen <br /> and was also named chairman pro tem of the Watershed Committee, <br /> Messrs. Silver Howes and Hanks met with him to brie him u to <br /> j: � g � <br /> speed on what's going on. <br /> An application for a grant to analyze the nutrient problem was <br /> made sometime e in December; grants are written very specifically. <br /> We will be hearing a lot more about this in the future. <br /> 1.
