Selectmen's Office
Agenda, 29 March 99
Agenda, 5 April 99
Outgoing
To: Conservation Commission--Dredge Material Disposal document and request for
help-
2,
Mr. Hanks stated that he wrote an article requesting$200,000 to do maintenance dredging
and to dredge the Mashpee liver. That has since been modified. The problem Mr. Hanks
has is with the wording`oto l ashpee waterways Dredging Account"which would be a
new account and the money could only be used for dredging and it is all of the waterways
Improvement Fund,
Mr. Daly asked if the Selectmen were the only ones who could change it. Mr, Hanks
stated we could amend it on the floor. He also said another thing we could do is just move
to indefinitely postpone and get it on the October warrant.
lr. Hanks went on to say that what he and Mr. Ellis wanted to achieve is to have people
at town meeting approve transfer of money that is in the waterways Improvement Fund
and move it into an account for maintenance dredging and boat maintenance, etc. to be
spent under the direction of the Selectmen.
Mr. Hanks asked if anyone would have a problem if he moved to indefinitely postpone it.
Mr. Daly wondered what monies go into the waterways Fund, Mr. Hanks explained balr
of the excise tax,the mooring fees, plus fines and any unsolicited donations from the
public.
Mr. Hanks stated he would find out what the alternatives were on amendment,
ADJOURNMENT:
IOTION made to adjourn at 9:22 p.m. and so voted unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
.Angela Newhall
7
