44'M `.down of Mashpee <br /> d <br /> 16 Great flreck pad JVorth <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> MASHPEE WATERWAYS <br /> COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> 05 DECEMBER 2000 <br /> Attendance: Jim Hanks, Gerald Daly, William Taylor, Paul <br /> Lumsden, John Swartzbaugh, and Secretary Jennifer Ahearn. <br /> Other Attendees: Ed Baker, Shellfish Constable Rick York. <br /> Call. To Order: The meeting was called to order by <br /> chairperson Jim Hanks at 7 : 06 p.m. <br /> Public Comment: None . <br /> Review Minutes : John Swartzbaugh motioned to accept the <br /> minutes of November with the addition of several <br /> apostrophes that were absent from the original copy. <br /> Gerald Daly seconded the motion to accept November' s <br /> minutes as corrected and all other members voted in favor. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 1 . Harbormaster Report - Perry Ellis . <br /> Jim Hanks informed us that Perry was very busy all <br /> day pulling the navigational aids from Popponesset <br /> Bay in preparation for the winter and therefore <br /> would not be able to attend this evening. <br /> 2 . Shellfish Constable Report. - Rick York <br /> Rick York reports that he has finished seeding over <br /> 2, 000, 000 quahogs and 1., 000, 000 scallop seeds and <br /> they appear to be doing very, well. <br /> The water quality problem we were experiencing at <br /> Popponesset Bay has .improved and the Bay has since <br /> re-opened. Shoestring Bay is still closed. We <br /> also received notice from the Marine Fisheries that <br /> Sage Lot Pond and the creek that goes into Hamblin <br /> Pond are being closed. These ponds are some of the <br /> cleanest in the state and the reason that they are <br /> being closed is due to the federal guidelines being <br /> changed on water testing.
