Mr.- Ellis informed us that he met with. the Lake
Management Committee . There is still no luck on
getting a. public hearing date set for the Mashpee--
wakeby regulations .
Shellfish Constable Report - Rick York.
Mr. York confirmed the condition of the docks up
in the air on oc kway Bay clearly being as bad as
Perry had stated in his report .
It has been a warm December for the water
temperatures , They have been up in the 40' s .
Today, the water temperature has been closer to
normal for this time of year at about 30 degrees .
This helps for water duality as the colder
temperature kills off the bacteria.
Mr. York has been taking a. close look at the
problem that has been occurring at Hamblin Fond.
There were geese and swans producing waste that
has been contributing to the problem but there is
also a big problem with fresh water run off again,
So fax we do not have any indication of a septic
problem, all we can see is wildlife and road run
off problems .
Rick also reported the purchase last year of
1, 000, 000 quahog seeds and 100, 000 scallop seeds .
The quahog seed has been successful and we are in
the new USDA Quahog crop Insurance Program., which
allows municipalities to be insured as well as the
private sector. For a $60 annual fee we have
catastrophic insurance up to $27, 000 should
hurricane or a. number of other factors wipe out
the entire crop,
Also reported is that l a.shpee, as well as
Falmouth, has expanded our scallop program+ In
the past fall of 99 season, we were up to 50
bushels, a significant increase over previous
years . We have plans to continue our scallop
seeding and working with the shellfish Commission
in this area,
There has been a 30% fee increase across the board
in shellfish licenses . The family license has
