water ponds with the exception of the Mashpee-wakeby Lake. we have since
withdrawn the article.
Mr. Hanks stated that he would like to remove it from the agenda and just deal with
issues as they arise. Herb Silver commented that he feels that the Jet skis are going to
become a very serious problem someday in the not too distant future. Mr. Bevacque
stated that he would like to keep it on the agenda and also increase patrolling since,
he believes that the problem of jet skis is one that is `not going to go away}
Mr, Bevacque aiso complained that as an assistant harbormaster, he still could not get
a mooring for his boat, The selectmen informed him that no bias was given to
harbormasters where it pertains to moorings and that they are to be put on the waiting
list like everyone else. Jim Hanks informed him that he needs to bring this before the
selectmen and that this was not an issue that the WWC dealt with.
4. Waterways Improvement plan and Dredging..Project =Jinn Hanks
Mr. Hanks wanted to start discussion on this project with answering why we haven't
taken samples yet, He has talked to the DER after talking to Elias McQuaid from
the Board of Health about blending the dredging material into the composting
operation. if you want to dispose of any material that has salt in it any place other
than right next to where you are taking it from or in an approved landfill, you will
have to go through an awful lot of hoops. Lee Tripp's (of the D.E.P.) position on it is
that we will probably not be able to do it and will probably have to take it to the
Bourne landfill. .him reported, after doing some calculations using what Greg Taylor
of the D.P.W. uses for waste disposal that the f xnaf figures do not appear to be a
reasonable direction to go in.
There was much discussion with the frustration level that the process of dredging and
disposal is bringing. Many scenarios of means of disposal were discussed and all
members were in agreement that none of them were anywhere near ideal.
Mr. Hams stated that the next step appeared to be to get a"handle' on the nutrients
and try to quantify the impact so that we can use ockway Bay parking lot as our
proposed site.
Mr. Hams recognized Ed Baker for public comment. Mr. Baker reminded everyone
that there has been more than three years since the money for the Mashp ee River
Dredging Project p enm'ts was authorized. Mr, Hams acknowledged that we were, in
fact in the fourth year since the permits were authorized. Mr. Baker admitted that he
was becoming extremely frustrated with the whole lengthy process that has, from the
beginning} been quite discouraging at times.
Mr. Hanks stated that while his, as well as others, frustration is certainly appreciated,
it is', at this point well worth the time spent now determining which war to go so that
we are not wasting our money following the wrong path.
