MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Minutes utes of 18 March 1999
Commissioners present: George Green Jr., Chair Pro Teta, Ralph Shaw,
John Johansen, Tad wollenhaup , Greg wirsen,
James Conery Jr.
The meeting was called to order at 6:55 p.m.
6:55 PUBLIC COMMENT:
Mr. Sherman advised progress has been made. He has had conversations
with Bill Fisher and changes made are acceptable to hien. A two-page list of
what needs to be accomplished was distributed.
1. This has to do with the very strong letter that was seat out to contractors
that sloppiness will not be tolerated.and job termination could be a result
if intolerable degrees of non-compliance are found. Mr. Sherman thought
that could be crossed off the list if the Commission concurred.
2. Part of the package, the form called the monitoring form, can work as a
daily report and an incident report. Mr. Sherman advised Kathy Kiley
suggested one more category re fish kills and habitat problems. Tong
s ymoniak stated that is in process. A revised one will be provided on
Monday. Mr. Sherman advised Mr. Fisher will be here on Tuesday
morning. He wants to see the final versions of everything and to go to
the site and walk through some of these things with Mr. Szy moniak.
Chuck Green may be available also. Item 2 is near completion.
. Mr. s ymoniak does not have this yet; it is in process. The plan will b
here by Monday afternoon. Mr. Sherman stated the last sentence was
suggested by Bill Fisher. He asked Mir. syoniak to explain why that
may be problematical. Mr. s ymoniak stated they meed to finish some
slopes and he thinks Mr. Fisher is trying to be more pro-active and to
make sure they get things revegetated. It would be nice to have a little
longer for storm events. Mr. Sherman stated if only opening up small
amounts at a time, they could put hay down as a temporary measure;
that would be satisfactory. If there is a threat of rain in eight hours,
for small areas that have not been finalized, they could put hay don.
Mr. s ymoniak agreed that would not be a burden.
VOTE: Motion made and seconded to find #1 acceptable. Unanimous Note.
