i
MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Minutes of 6 11y 1999
Commissioners present: John Fitzsimmons, Elliot Rosenberg, John
Johansen, Ralph Shaw, Tad Wollenhaupt,
George Green, Jr., Greg Wirsn.
The meeting was called to order at 6:55 p.m.
6:55 PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: Paul Lumsden,, waterways
Commissioner, came forward to-hand deliver, a letter asking Conservation to
give consideration to a request to meet with them and to give him a reply.
Mr. sh man advised they aro requesting to meet to discuss various options
for the dredge spoils. He suggested setting a time for the ming.
Mr. Rosenberg suggested appointing a subcommittee mittoo to meet with
Waterways and report back to the Board.
Mr. Sherman stated the Board will not be able to make a decision of any kind
before submission of a formal filing.
Mr. Shaw asked if the could be any discussion of what the Commission might
offer?
Mr. Sherman stated they are looking for direction.
The Chair stated it is not up to the Commission to develop options. It would
be very difficult' for the Commission to approve Harry I sr si is
Conservation Area as one ofthe options. This should not get into
negotiating session.
Mr. Green stated the C rr mi-s i n needs to hear what they want to offer. He
did not feel a subcommittee would be a good idea. That would put a couple of
Commissioners in a tough position.
Mr. Rosenberg thought it a problem in the sense it sounds as though there is
an expectation as to what the Commission will do before a formal request i
filed. He was not sure this is proper to do.
Mr. Sherman stated it places the Commi sion,in a difficult position. It is
common courtesy to allow there to come in.
After discussion, the Commission agreed to have them come in next week.
