She stated this provides <br /> n opportunity to teach her children the values of nature, <br /> including how to respect and act as stewards of the land. She <br /> stated her children love the peaceful nature the open space <br /> area provides them, and also the opportunity to roam and explore <br /> the land. <br /> She spoke to the proposed road construction and how it would <br /> decrease property values, as well as to decrease the children' <br /> values. <br /> Kevin Carey stated the existing access road running from the <br /> neighborhood to Route 28 is a literal dump, strewnwith washing <br /> machines, tines, asphalt, and beer cans, ll on conservation <br /> land. He stated, "We don' t want that In our backyard. " "We <br /> absolutely do not want that in our backyard. " <br /> Tracy Vachon stated she is the mother of three children. <br /> She also stated they have seen deer, fawns, and other wildlife on <br /> the property. She stated she would life to preserve the area as <br /> It is, and that she would very much like to be able to allow her <br /> children to play in their backyard and to retrieve- a ball without <br /> the danger of being hit by any type of motor vehicle. <br /> Shirley Hansen stated a six year old autistic boy is <br /> currently living with her. She expressed her concern for his <br /> safety should he follow the road being proposed out to Route 28. <br /> She stated the difficulties she has experienced trying to confine <br /> the boy to the house, noting the construction of a road would <br /> serge to provide him the opportunity to run the length of the <br /> road without stopping. She also noted the proximity of the <br /> proposed road to her property. She spore directly to the safety <br /> issues this proposal would create, stating she finds the proposal <br /> to be frightening. <br /> George Green interjected the property in question abuts <br /> .mature forest, noting their rarity on Cape Cod. <br /> Renee Fudala Mated she has personally heard and seen hermit <br /> thrush and other deep forest birds. She also noted the <br /> whippoorwill population would be impacted. <br /> Following brief discussion regarding procedure, as well as <br /> the Chairman determining ng there- was no further public comment, a <br /> motion was made. <br /> MOTION: George Green made a motion that Staff be directed <br /> to draft a letter to the Selectmen requesting they postpone the <br /> Article being submitted by the Water Department requesting <br /> -5- <br />
