Town of Mashpee <br /> Conservation Commission <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> April. 27, 2000 <br /> The Town of Mashpee Conservation Commission Meeting was <br /> called to order at Mashpee Town Half., 16 Great Neck Road North, <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts at 6 :45 p. . on Thursday, April 2 , 2000 . <br /> The Chairman, John Fitzsimmons, presided. <br /> Commissioners present: John Fitzsimmons, Chairman; John <br /> Johansen, Clerk; Carol Moore; Ralph Shaw; and Greg Wirsen <br /> -m• <br /> Absent: George F. Green, Jr. <br /> Also present: Robert Sherman, Conservation Agent; and <br /> Diane Boretos, Assistant Conservation Agent. <br /> A quorum being present, the Meeting was called to order. As <br /> the first order of business the Chairman called the natter of <br /> LandDonation-Charles Talanian. <br /> The Chairman recognized Don Megathlin, Talanian Realty, who <br /> presented the South Cape project. He made reference to recent <br /> issues concerning the Town of Mashpee, as well as the Cape Cod <br /> Coni s s i on <br /> Mr. Megathlin made re. erences to land located at the Mashpee <br /> Rotary, proceeding down Route 28 to the Mashpee Industrial Park <br /> a Growth Activity Center) . He reported the Town Planner, <br /> Planting Board, and Board of Selectmen have indicated their <br /> support of the proposed project being a growth activity area, <br /> rather than an open space area. However, the Cape Cod Commission <br /> (hereinafter referred to as CCC) has a different point of Griew, <br /> with a tendency to reduce the overall size of a development. <br /> Mr. Megathlin reported the size of the proposed development <br /> had been reduced prior to filing with the CCC; however they have <br /> requested further reductions be made. The CCC has requested an <br /> open space area be provided within the Town Growth Activity area. <br /> Mr. Megathlin stated he was present to make two 2 <br /> specific requests of the Conservation Comission this date. The <br /> first being their desire to donate four acres of undeveloped <br /> off-site land, to be determined by the Conservation Commission; <br /> the cost of which, Sixty-Eight Thousand ($68, 000 . 00) Dollars <br /> would be donated to the Conservation Commission. <br /> Secondly, he made reference to the Growth ACtiVity Center, <br /> approximately seven 7 acres of land immediately south of the <br /> Talanian project. <br />
