i
shore bred habitat will be protected.
Mr. Hayes also reported that appropriate language for the
profiles has been discussed with the Assistant Conservation
Agent.
Diane Boretos reported this project could provide valuable
information regarding possible impacts associated with beach
nourishment to near shore rocky intertidal areas with large
species of algae, which are used by young sport fishing species,
as well as ducks in the winter and migratory shore birds. She
stated this particular monitoring protocol is being developed by
Mr. Hayes, herself, and input from CzK for the order of
Conditions for the first three years.
Ms. Boretos explained that when sand is placed on an eroding
beach it moves off shore. This project will document movement as
it occurs and determine if it is impacting the vegetative
community in tho near shore area. She further stated
pre monitoring and postmonitoring would occur .in conjunction with
beach nourishment for the first three ( years.
Mr. Hayes requested the opportunity for Applicant review of
the -Order of Conditions, when prepared by the Commission.
The Chairman ,inquired as to the specifications of sand size
in connection with the proposed beach nourishment. Mr. Hayes
responded that comparisons of sand will be made and will be
ninety 0 percent compatible, and that CZK requires at least
eighty-five percent sand.
MS. Boretos stated this issue will be addressed in the order
of Conditions, depending upon the beach profile and off shore
topography. Also, a sediment analysis will be approved prior to
its being placed on the beach.
There was some Commission discussion regarding the creation
of plover feeding areas, the areas surrounding that which is to
be nourished, and the entire area being considered for
nourishment.
Ms. Boretos recommended approval of this project to include
some of the conditions discussed this evening.
There being no public comment or further Commission
discussion, the Chairman entertained a motion.
MOTION:N: Elliot Rosen made a motion to Close; which Motion
was seconded by Ralph Shaw and so voted unanimously.
7:25 wilowbend DevelopmentCorporation-windyate
Turnaround, continued from May 25, 2000, NON .
 _
