30 November 2000
Page 8.
It was agreed the Subcommittee should sit down with Tom Fudala. The Committee is
looking for direction to keep going in the exploratory phase, go forward with Selectman
Green's idea to go to the State and to nominate someone from m the Commission mission t serve
on SelectmanGreen's Board.
A notion was made to go forward with exploring. The Chair did not wish to vote until
he has a chance to review this. It was agreed to have Selectman green come in next
meeting. It was noted the Chair and Mr. Talbot would not be present at this meeting.
The Chair asked what is wrong with the Board of Health approach? Mr. Sherman
stated it can be appealed much more easily.
Dave Sharpe: Ms Boretos advised the Chair that the sign for the Conservation Land
area to be dedicated to Mr. Sharpe will be ready next week.
Motions: The Agent asked the commission to change protocol arra when motions are
made to close and issue, that the plan of record elate by referenced.
VOTE: Motion made and seconded to accept the change as policy.
Unanimous Vote.
Enforcement: Some large limbs have been cut at 55 redwood Circle. Their pewit has
expired. He was required to contact us before any annual cutting and it had been
consideration to give him maintenance in perpetuity if he had a Certificate of
Compliance. The permit has expired and he has never asked for one. The Agent
recommended informing the person that he can no longer cut vegetation on the
property until he refiles and gets a neer permit.
NO'T'E: Motion rade and seconded to accept the Agent's recommendation.
Unanimous Vote.
Signs: IVIS Boretos advised other towns have signs for their lands. She will pursue the
design of signs if the Commission wishes. It was agreed this should be pursued.
Bourne Cranberry Bog Case: The Agent advised he got a copy of this today. Bourne
lost big-time. The legal decision virtually said that local wetland bylaws cannot regulate
cranberry operations. A copy of the decision was distributed.
Landscapers: Mr. Talbot advised he acrd Ms Boretos discussed having a conference for
professional landscapers to promote ecologically appropriate design and management of
landscapes. He will provide a document to the Commission. They discussed having
this in March or perhaps in the fall. The title will be something like ecological
landscaping. There would be a possibility of co-sponsors and other organizations could
participate. It could be large in outreach but it would be desirable to target those who
work on the upper Cape.
IVIS Moore thought this was an excellent idea. The Commission concurred.
The Commission was polled to go into Executive Session to discuss potential and
pending litigation.
