Town of Mashpe <br /> Conservation Commission <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> -June 7, 2001 <br /> The Town of Mashpee Conservation Commission Meeting was <br /> called to order in Conference Root #3 , Mashpee 'down Hall, <br /> Great Neck Road Forth, Mashpee, Massachusetts - at p.m. on <br /> Thursday, June 7, 2001. The Chairman, John Fitzsimmons, <br /> presided. <br /> Commissioners present : Jo in Fitzsimmons, Chairman{ John <br /> Johansen, Clerk; Qarole Moore p.m. ) ; Leonard Pinaud.; Elliot <br /> Rosenberg, Vice Chairman; Ralph Shaw; and Mi hae,l Talbot . <br /> AlsoP resent : Robert Sherman, Conservation Agent; and Diane <br /> Eoretos, Assistant Conservation Agent. <br /> The Chairman declared a quorum to be present and called the <br /> Meeting to order, AS the first order of business he addressed <br /> the matter of: <br /> Public Comment <br /> The Chairman recognized the following Ias pee residents <br /> Katherine wood, monomoscoy Island, who spoke to concerns <br /> regarding the distribution of an anonymous environmental flyer. <br /> Mr. Sherman responded that he had been made aware of the <br /> notice on Jure tai; however, no one has contacted -the <br /> Conservation office requesting appearance at the Meeting. <br /> Julie Brady, Monomoscoy Island, also concerned about <br /> distribution of said flyer. She expressed concern regarding <br /> the amount of building/construction vehicles on Mo omo coy, <br /> stating the area has been designated as a "wildlife Sanc,tear " as <br /> evidenced by the placement o a sign at the be inni�n of the <br /> island. <br /> Mr. Sherman stated the Conservation Conun.i si n is painfully <br /> aware of the amount of building/construction on the Island. He <br /> further questioned the validity of the wildlife sanctuary <br /> designation with regard to Federal, State, or Local laws . <br /> Mr, Sherman then addressed the issues of Town -law <br /> constraints . This area is considered to be land subject to <br /> coastal storm flowage under the law, which is not subject to <br /> State Regulations . Conservation Commission decisions are based <br /> solely on what is allowed under the law. <br /> `rank Prendergast, Monomoscoy Island, who stated his <br /> concerns for the enviro=ent, including water resources . <br />
