MOTION:- Elliot Rosenberg made a Motion to accept the <br /> amendment, subject to a pre-work on site visit by the <br /> Conservation Agent; which Motion was seconded by Ralph Shaw and <br /> so voted unanimously. <br /> 7 : 20 Paul Sugarman to replace ars existing timber wall with a <br /> concrete wall, replace l ant ire , and re-installation of pool, <br /> patio and ornamental plantings at 83 Tide Run, Assessors Map 120, <br /> Block 189 . <br /> The Chairman recognized Wayne Tavares, Tavares Land Design, <br /> representing Applicant. <br /> Mr. Tavares explained the existing retaining wall is in a <br /> state of disrepair. Upon inspection the Conservation Agent <br /> suggested the growth of knotweed be removed and replaced with <br /> indigenous plant material as mitigation. <br /> Making reference to the plan Mr. Tavares indicated the area <br /> where said knotweed and eroded railroad ties are to be removed by <br /> machine. Concrete modular blocks are being proposed as materials <br /> for this project. He asked for some flexibility with reference <br /> to the type of store material to be used. The longevity of the <br /> wall being greatly increase with the use of concrete modular <br /> blocks. <br /> Mr. Tavares made reference to cross sectional pictures <br /> indicating the need for a fabric material to be placed betty en <br /> the blocks. He requested approval to repair the stone patio <br /> which surrounds the pool area, replace the wall, and remove the <br /> vegetation at the top of the wall (store and replace it . <br /> Ms. Boretos asked about waste materials resulting in the <br /> removal of the wall. <br /> Mr. Tavares responded that two feet of soil will be removed <br /> to accommodate a setting bed footing. The wall is to be removed <br /> by hand; n trees will e destroyed. Said wall will be four feet <br /> exposed upon completion. A Building Permit will be required. <br /> There was some discussion as twhere the plantings being <br /> removed would be stored for replanting. <br /> Mr. Tavares requested approval to mechanically remove the <br /> growth of knotweed at this site and replant . Recognizing the <br /> difficulties in destroying knotweed, Mr. Tavares suggested the <br /> chemical use of Vapam. The product goes on in liquid form, <br /> turas into a fumigant as soon as it Fakes contact with the <br /> ground. The area is thea watered which provides a seal, <br /> containing the fumigation within the soil . An overnight <br /> irrigation system would be needed to complete the process. <br /> The point Mr. Tavares was making is that replanting could <br /> -4- <br />
