Trail cutting in U.S. Fish and wildlife Refuge at ,Jehu's Pond. Diane said that Tom
Fudala carne in a couple of months ago asking to do some trail work at Jehu's Pond.
There was a miscommunication between him, Diane, and the Fish and wildlife Service,
and they ended up cutting a trail in BVW. According to the Fish and Wildlife Service,
there isn't a management plan for this refuge, so the public is not even supposed to be
on this land. Diane told him to file an after-the-fact and ask for maintenance in
perpetuity. He said he's not sure they have to file and Diane thinks he's a little
embarrassed about it, but she doesn't think the Fish and Wildlife Services would have
a problem with filing. Diane suggested to him that Eric and she do a Notice of Intent
for all the trails that are in this jurisdiction with maintenance in perpetuity.
Elliot suggested they either file with us if they want to maintain this in perpetuity or
agree to let it regrow. Diane said Torn didn't get USFW permission, and that's the
problem he's in. Diane said the trail will regrow eventually, but not for a while.
Bob suggested Diane contact Christine Gault, chair of the Management Committee of
the Mashpee Wildlife Refuge, and get an agreement that they will let it regrow. All
agreed.
