MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Minutes of April 10, 2003
Public Hearin
Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room 3
Commissioners present: Jack Fitzsimmons, Elliot Rosenberg, Cass Costa,
Stephanie .Jones, Leonard Pinaud, Ralph Shaw and Michael Talbot.
Staff present: Robert Sherman, Agent; Frances Wise, Board Secretary
Jack Fitzsimmons, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 6;55 p.m.
Public Comment:
Non-Hearing Agenda
yry
Old Business:
villowbend Vista Pruning Plan. Bob reported that he received this request for pruning
which involves one fairway on the golf course. At the time when the applicant received
approval of the plan} they weren't prepared to rale a judgment as to how much they
wanted to cut before the golf course was constructed, and we did not issue an Order of
Conditions to stipulate the time frame. We expected the plan to be in a lot sooner, but
evidently the Cape Cod Commission held it up. Bob's question is if the Cape Cod
Commission and Mike don't have any problem with it, do we let thea do it now.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the request subject to the
approval of Michael Talbot and confirmation of the Cape Cod Commission's approval
with the stipulation that the word be done by Apri I nth.
2. Approval of.January 16, 2003 minutes.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the subject minutes.
3. URS. Bob reviewed that at the February 27th meeting, the Commission approved a
total of up to $1,700 to replace the fish ladder and eater control structure and get bids
for the work, and he recommended that we tale it from available funds, which include
the Conservation Bog Maintenance account. He said it was originally budgeted as part
of a Town meeting article where we had $90,000 to do this work, but extra design work
was ,mandated,by some changes which the Division of Marine and Fisheries wanted,
and he thought it was wise to have URS supervise the bids.
Lotion made, seconded and unanimously carried to authorize the Conservation Agent
to sign the documents for this additional expenditure.
