} <br /> I ASHPEE CONSERVATION VATION COMMISSION <br /> Minutes o July 1 , 2003 <br /> Pudic Hearing <br /> I a shpee Town Hall Meeting Room 3 <br /> Commissioners present; Jack Fitzsimmons, Elliot Rosenberg, Stephanie Jones, <br /> Leonard Pinaud, Ralph Shaver and Michael Talbot. <br /> Staff present: Robert Sherman, Agent; Frances Wise, Board Secretary <br /> Jack Fitzsimmons,mons, chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m. <br /> Public Hearing: <br /> George Thuckie" Green, Jr., Mashpee Selectman, said he has been reappointed as <br /> the Board of Selectmen's liaison to this Commission. Jack said that he has been <br /> concerned about the measure of cooperation vire have experienced in the past from Mr. <br /> Green, and he hopes that this ushers in a period of full cooperation. Mr. Green said he <br /> will meet with the Commission members at our earliest convenience to discuss hover we <br /> can do that better. Jack said the rain thing is communication. We have issues that <br /> interact between us and the Board of selectmen, and we are looking forward to him <br /> interacting vAth us before decisions are made by the Board of selectmen that interfere <br /> with what vire are doing. <br /> Elliot said he recently received a letter from Jim Hanks regarding the dredging of the <br /> Mashpee River indicating that there was a movement to get by petition an Article at the <br /> Town meeting in October to compel the conservation Commission to transfer land <br /> which we ovum across Great Neck Road south on which the dredgers can dump the <br /> material dredged. lender Massachusetts General Law, chapter 46, the Town has no <br /> right to do that. <br /> Mr. Green said they are aware of that, and it's one of three options being considered by <br /> the Waterways commission. He is the liaison to Waterways also.) He said there will <br /> never be an Article to try to compel the conservation Commission to do anything. <br /> Anything they do will be a joint action between Water rays, the Board of Selectmen and <br /> the Conservation Commission, and they do have other options. <br /> Stephanie said her understanding is that there is no order or requirement, but It was <br /> the sense of this group that it would be a solution to the problem. <br /> Elliot said the letter he received from the head of the Waterways Commission stated <br /> that someone was getting people to sign a petition, and if the required signatures are <br /> obtained, the item would get on the meeting's agenda with no discretion rendered. <br />
