. Land swap article. Bob reported this topic is on the TownMeeting agenda for October 200'.
He distributed to the members Mashp a Cod - Chapter 1 -1 and Threats to Conservation Land
- Article 10.7.1.
Elliot said there are two proposals on the Town Needing agenda. One is a petition article for
swap of land promoted by Mr. Baler. The other 'is a proposal made by the Waterways
Commission after they saw the Baker proposal because they feel this larger proposal would b
more appropriate. Elliot feels there are enormous complications, which have to be examined in
connection with either of these proposals.
We'd have to have the whole site evaluated in teras of wildlife habitat. Also, Mr. Hanks'
proposal relates to land which is a substantial distance ftom the liver and is across Great Neck
Road,, so if solid materiaJ wifl be brought in, it wi l have to be through their pipe from the
Mashee River, which would have enormous consequences. Stephanie said Mr. Hanks' proposal
would require much more dredging.
Bob said we would have to have documentation that the swap makes sense for all of the values in
Chapter 173. Stephanie said that as the conservators of the river, we must make certain that the
dredging ill not result in a negative impact on the aver.
Bob sai
