Conservation Commission Minutes of August 19, 2010 Public Hearings Mashpee Town Hall - Conference Roam 1 Commissioners: Chairman Jack Fitzsimmons,mons, vice Chairman Ralph shaver, Mark Gurnee, Brad Sweet, Jeffrey Cross, John Rogers, Lloyd Allem Staff Present: Drew McManus (Conservation Agent) and Kris Carpenter (Administrative Secretary) Cali Meetinq To Order: 6:55 pm - Public Comment There was no public comment. PrelPst Hearinq 69enda: 1 Minutes: Approval of the following minutes: Thursday, August 5, 201 Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the minutes of August 5, 2010. 2 Quashnet B qs Meeting Date: Update on meeting with AFCEE for the Quashnet Bogs and Quashnet Diver rehabilitation; the set date is September 24, 2010 in Conference Froom 3. Doug Allen from Haley &Aldrich, Mike Minior from AFCEE, Agent McManus and possibly some or all of the Commissioners will be present. 3 Mashpee Pine Barrens Conservation Lands: Update on the proposed fire break and road Widening; Chief Baker had explained previously that there was another phase in the roadside clearing and creation of a buffer zone in the Mashpee Pine Barrens area. It is an extension of the work that started along Great Hay Road through Jehu Pond in the Mashpee Wildlife Refuge system. Also there ill be some understory treatment of which a 100' buffer zone will be created around Polaris Drive and the other communities that abut Mashpee Pine Barrens. This will be similar to the project at the Mashpee Fiver Woodlands last year and the funding is all through federal wildfire money. • Maintenance will be included which will be conducted every tiro-three years. A meeting will be held with the Greenwood Association that abuts the area due to a lot of questions and concerns from the residents. Agent McManus ill set up meeting with Chief Baker to core in and clarify or answer any questions that the Board may have. 4) Regulation 2 : Docks s Piers; Final comments for the proposed regulation; Mr. Gurnee had submitted a fever orr meat in regards to some of the subject matter in the proposed Regulation 2 (sunlight penetration/planking space and float sizes). The Agent would lila to schedule one more subcommittee meeting to go over these questions and then try to finalize the regulation. Chairman Fitzsimmons has requested one last look before it goes out to the public which the Agent agrees and also mentions an "expanded'.subcommittee meeting for any other comments.
