He has not been able to get in touch with the <br /> company that originally installed the gates. There are four gates that he would like to retro fit with <br /> housing units over the lock & pin to make it inaccessible to bolt cutters. Capewary Welding will <br /> provide a quote which will be submitted at the next hearing and it then can be voted on for <br /> approval. V. Chairman Slaw asks if it i -needed to-get other bids and the Agent confirms that he <br /> can but usually projects are seat out to bid when $1000 or more. Mr. Sweet asks of additional <br /> gates at Jehu Pond and Agent McManus says that he spoke to Torry Eagle who is the Federal ' <br /> Partner at Jehu from US Fish and Wildlife who stated that they do not have the funds currently to <br /> purchase more gates. The Agent states that if we want garter at those two locations thea Concom <br /> will have to pay for thea which the funds are available. He mentions that he can get a few <br /> estimates but a gate at Army Brown should also include signs that state "not a thru-way' at both <br /> entrances. Mr. Sweet mentions that maybe DPMI can create a turnaround but the Agent would <br /> rather see no intrusion into the woods. <br /> 4) Wildfire clearing update: Ma tepee Pine Barrens/Great Hay/ Holland Mills - The Agent gent out <br /> with Chief Barker and Tom Eagle from CJS Fish and Wildlife and everything is going according to <br /> plans regarding the 190' buffer. Mostly under tory clearing and a small section where they took <br /> trees that was 62F <br /> circumference or less which is letting more sunlight through and trappings for the <br /> New England Cottontail. Mr. Sweet asks hover often Chief Baker will need to go back in to <br /> maintain these areas and Agent McManus states that the consensus is approximately ately 2- years <br /> on a rotating basis between all areas. <br /> 5) Update on refu a clean up day 1/12/11 - The Mashpee Natural Wildlife Refuge Partnership Group <br /> will be hosting a refuge clean up day on January 12'h. They will meet at the Waquoit Bay Reserve <br /> erve <br /> at gam and thea go to Jehu & Johns Pond mostly to clean up trash.
