Continued from November 21, 2017
Project Address: One Wampanoag Drive
Business name: Mashpee Village
Representative: Rebecca Nystrom
Request: Sign chane new Color choice
Rebecca Nystrom appeared and said she is Assistant Property Manager at
Mashpee Village and has been there for the past 10 years. She said with all the
property changes, they want to make the sign clear and identifiable. Current sign
color is maroon, but the Mashpee Town colors are blue and white and they
wanted to tie into the Town color.
Rebecca Nystrom said due to health reasons Michael Day will not be overseeing
this project. However, he has given authorization to use the plans and design he
proposed so when sign is approved they are looking to approach Plymouth Sign
Company to do the sign.
Jonathan Furbush noted that the street address isnot on the sign as requested
by this Committee. Rebecca Nystrom said to add 1 Wampanoag Drive on the
sign would lead to confusion. She explained that 370 Barnstable is the legal
address for Mashpee Village. Not all the property is One Wampanoag Drive. All
the buildings are addressed and plainly marked. She said there is basically 1
through 30 addresses on that street and to have the sign with street address of
"1" would be very confusing and for delivery drivers it would be an issue.
Rebecca Nystrom advised that they have a fire alarm system that tells the Fire
Department exactly where the fire is located.
Miles Peters commented that just the name "Mashpee Village" tells that it is the
complex.
Joe Cummings stated he would like to hear from the Police and Fire
departments. Jonathan said he agrees with .foe's comment. Jonathan said if
there is supposed to be a street number on signage it should be done for safety
concerns.
Mike Mendoza announced for the record that the Deputy Fire Chief happens to
be here and Mike asked Deputy Fire Chief Jack Phelan to join the conversation.
Rebecca Nystrom repeated to Jack Phelan her position of why adding street
address to Mashpee Village sign would be confusing. In addition, she said they
are already re-labeling the inside of the complex for Fire access.
3
