Board of Health Meeting 10/15/84 (Page <br /> It was felt strongly by the Board end Selectman Hanson that the lona <br /> ranee planning should be a treatment plant. <br /> W & S explained the possibility of State funding for a treatment plant <br /> their funds having ben cut however, treatment -plants Mill being <br /> funded, but it would be a long wait. <br /> I M1 <br /> W &- S suggested going back to their office and planning the numbers of <br /> wells and borings before submitting a more realistic $ figure. <br /> I <br /> W & S was asked by Mr. Hanson if they could provide info and lagoon vs. <br /> treatment plant, w & S felt that on a lona range the treatment plant <br /> should be strongly considered, volume of septage could really become a <br /> roblem in the next 10 to 15 yrs with the summer condos becoming retire- <br /> ment year round. It was felt that if dash ee/Sandwich were in closer <br /> proximity perhaps a joint venture could be formed, however, each town <br /> may have the feeling tha they don' t want septage being hauled into the <br /> other town. <br /> The Hoard thanked W & S for briefing therm and looked forward to receiving <br /> , further figures. <br /> Exec Sec. Murphy by re: Semass (Regional solid waste disposal) Selectman <br /> Shanahan of Bennis felt that it would be difficult for 15 towns to make a <br /> decision beyond the advisory committ Shanahan felt that five towns <br /> in the center of the county could cone up with a recommendation that could <br /> apply to all fifteen towns, <br /> The Five Town committee felt that Semass should be the recommendation, a <br /> way would have to be found to handle the trash, the Town will have to Day <br /> larder fee for solid waste disposal . <br /> letter of commitment will be necessary from the Selectmen to gQ before <br /> the next Town Meeting and to rake an honest ani sincere pro ntation. All <br /> Towns will be committed by the Selectmen, whether the Landfill comes under. <br /> the Health Board or DPW. <br /> Exec Secy recommends that the Town make this commitment, <br /> There are anumber of things that could take place even within the next year, <br /> the present acre m nt- that the town would be making would cormit the Town <br /> to this contract until next July 30 if Energy Answers Corporation does not <br /> get complete financing and if it has not received its ' Air- Quality Permit <br /> from DE E, at this point the town is no longer obligated; and the Committee <br /> would have to look elsewhere. <br /> Joe Murphy asked if the Board of Health would be willing to co-sponsor an <br /> article for the warrant, ALL BOARD MEkIBERS AGREED. <br /> The Town will have to deal with scaling, will have to maintain a landf ill, <br /> eazass will not take metals, they will take tires, no building materials <br /> or stumps; we will Mill have landfill problems that Sennas s will not address . <br /> Transportation to a point will be the duty of the town. <br /> Selectman Harmon Mated' that it would not, be, out of realm that the town would <br /> transport in its ' own trucks.
