Excerpt March 4 . 1985 meeting Page
Curtis: I talked to Baxter & Nye,,. they' re talking it', would be $100 . 00
or whatever, unless they have to go out with metal .ete tors; again,
. f
doif, how, if we -take it' in' arid. it' s- an area where 'there ' s. a haif' dozen
lots in the area., two or three of which are built, will the Board of
Health require theiengineerrto go out with metal detectors to find out
where the other one ' s are, because it may not be Just ,that specific lot,
a '
there can be things on other lots. Now this is what we need to tell
people what they need to do and we also need to know hoar long this variance
is g od for, is it grandfathered, - or is,-i 'pnl.y good for twelve. months
r what.
Lawrence : It' s good just like our permit-tinq, which - is a year the first
time andusually we go six months after that.
Curtis: I see. we' re not trying to be hard about it, but I talked to
George Benway and he had one idea of it. . . .
Lawrence: well. George was in here last week and we answered all his questions
so he should have been able to tell you, George is you 'know. . .I was talking
to hire yesterday and he ' s very happy with what we said, people are trying
to retake, you know what the problem is banks and lawyers alright that' s
the problem, they like to cry, - the more they cry the more 'money they rake
Basically ghat we want is 150 ' , if- you can give us 1 ' we lure ya, if you
can give us 120 ' , hey, we like ya, if .it ' s a 100 ' we' re happy with ya any-
thing less than that does before DEE anyway. variances will be given up int
that area, from 100 to 150 ' , predicated on each site as it comes up and
individual, now ,if you were coming in' for a new development we could sit
down and say OK you' re going to put your septics here and your wells here
and right dowry the whole street so the last guy isn 't out in left field.
Curtis : That' s not been our' . concern in new developments, it' s the indi-
vidual lots because we do have buyers and sellers the buyer' sas well
how can I bud` this lot, we have to tell. tham that a variance is required.
Hecht: How - long sloes it take to get the variance, let' s say we come in
with this registered plan or by an engineer and he has a stamp, OK we pre-
sent that for a variance and it' s only 1251 , how long does it take to get
the variance.
Lawrence: If you brought it in s.ay Wednesday, next Monday providing thereā¢
are no other complications. what we have done tonight, Roy and myself (be-
cause Charlie isn' t dere, he' s at another meeting) to allow the agent to
have the power, alright, at that tim'e to. grant a variance, to be wrought
]crack to the Batord we will review these every Monday, unless there is a
problem and the problem will have to come before the Board, we 're just
getting too jammed up with this thing, once we get someone else on board
e might go back to- the old way.
Hecht: You' ll review them every Monday, but. you 'bring them in during
normal business hours as long as the office is open.
Lawrence: If you want to get on for the next Monday I would get it in
like on a Thursday.
Visitor: Now is it possible to 'get a variance on at lot that someone has
built a long time ago and you 'en't. get the 1 ' , it' s less than 1001 ,
is it possible to get a variance as far as DEQE on that, or is that, or,
is that solid, cast in concrete
