{
TOWN OF EPEE, BOARD OF HEALTH, MEETING, MARCH 2, 19Page eleven
opportunity to go over the opportunity to review and if there
is a reed for clarification i t could be taken care of then and
there ,
The Chair asked if within the day of inspection the inspection report was being given to the
ffenager.
The inspector rrep 1 i ed that rause- of the motes on the inspection form, he had taken it back to
the office and typed it and then the manager had gotten it within three hours and too, that he
saw no reason why there would have to be any clarification of nam rks.
The Chair answered that it was 'Santics.#
Mr. Buckingham asked what the projected date for stonehardening the floor of the meat roan would
be.
Nor. Fisher said it would probably be within the next -days but he would supply a more accurate
date, there are few firm that do this and the roanintenanoe department was either scheduling this
or had a l ready sc hedu 1 ed. He further stated that housekeeping items would be taken carne of on an
i mm d i ate basis, rola i ntenance repairs/replacement takes a l i tt 1 e more t i b (i.e. compressor on one
of the refrigerated cases which has been replaced .
The Chair noted that there had been constant housekeeping problerns being brought to the attention
of this Board through citizen carp 1 a i nts but when t he i n s petors from this office find the situa-
tion
itu -
tion in need of corrective action and the promise from the management that things will be taken
care of and conditions are fine for a week and then it goes back to the same problem again, He
(Chair) would 1 i ke to sit down and hear a plan f rorty Puri t Suprefm because of the seriousness of
the problem with this being the only super market in town,
Mr. Fisher reiterated that he was grilling to make any committment that it takes to be -sure that
the store is maintained and he had done this through Jim Simmons (Dir./Operations), in the best
passible condition. He once again alluded to the competent staff of sanitarians and he had told
Bob Sturtevant that he didn't care if he had to be down in Mashpee every day of the week to be sure
that P S is in 10004 compliance, and that the stone is perfectly clean.
Attorney Grodberrg stated that the contingent of men were here to deonstrate their concern for the
store. Supermakets General had acquired the Angelo chain and Purity Supreme had become the opera-
tor and owner a little more than ar year ago, they had found that the Angelo stores, generally
speaking were of very high q ua l-i ty. If indeed thea is a prb l e P S is prepared to number one
indicate that they are concern about any problem and prepared to undertake and to guarantee
that this stare will be as much of a prize to P S and to the people (customers and Bim) as is any
other stone. The group is here,'nt.to -say. that this did occur nor that this/that didn't occur,
but to have the Board became convinced that the %shpee/Purity Supreme store is going to be and is
a f i ne, san itary, c 1 can, attracti ve store that a 1 l can be proud of, PS i s 1 ook i ng to the future
and hope that the Board will as well.
Mr. Buckingham requested some sort of schedule proposed to rectify the-conditions (floors, com-
pressors) what has it been,, s:ix ,years? (QUOTE) He then went on to say that he realized
with the swing of the population and the difficulty of this store in its' stocking things, smie-
tones, particularly. The thing that upset the Board this time was the fact that these things were
occuring during the slow time of the ,year, stocks and use at a miniwn; personally speaking he
had been in the store and in the meat cases particularly the top three layers were above the load
line, whether the cases should be re-designed or the people in the back room should bring out less
quantity and make more trips to keep the food below the .load line.
The Chair remarked that prior to the takeover by P S a vice president was in before the Board and
things seemed to have irrraed, however, things have gotten back to where they were.
Nor. Fisher said they have never had a problem this way since he has been associated with the super
markets, they don't want to operate this way not only from the standpoint of regulations and the
better store that is operated, the better the custcrer will be pleased and the more customers that
will return-, i t.doesn't rake any sense from a bus i nes s point of view nor from a regulatory view.
