meeting opened at 6:05 p.m.
THE TAPE IS FOR THE USE of THE CLERK IN TRANSCRIBING THE MINUTES of THE MEETING, IT IS NOT TO BE
CONSIDERED A PART of THE MEETING.
KYBERS of THE BOARD OF MATER COMMISSIONERS, SELECTMEN TOM,, RAI SON AND LAWRENCE, EXECUTIVE SEC-
RETARY MURPHY AND PAULA CWAGNE FROM COUNTY HEALTH DEPART ENT.
Mrs, ,Thorns briefed the Board and guests of her visit to Lakeville DEQE, this date, for a meeting
chaired by Gilbert Joly.
B T said there was no in depth discussion of condemnation of wells,, but, that it was the re-
sponsibility of the Board of Health to take such action. If the buildings are such that the
residents cannot drink water, then ,you provide water, that removes that threat; but, if ,you
have a situation like you have in Building 14, then this is a different 'ball game' , measures
were discussed to have an 'interim' solution type of thing arxJ that would be up to the BOH to
decide. Donna Bishop D EE who was not present at the meet i ng but,, who has the EPA data and
will not issue any comments until she makes an in-depth study, therefore nothing will be forth-
coming ng in writing until that review is made. Note : Ms . B i shop was not pre-
sent
re-sent at the meeting , however , her representative expressed the
sentiments of Nis . Bishop ) .
CFB asked if Building #14 was the one i th the f 1 uctuat i ons, he said the information the BOH
would need fry the Water Canissioners, what the situation is insbfar as bringing water out- .
side to the area.
Mrs. Thomas asked els. Charane if whe wanted to sit everything that happened or if she only
wanted to corer the cDnd nnat ion' aspect.
CFB felt it would be a pant of the condemnation, he felt that an arrival would have to be rea-
ched as to what options we have,
i y 4 F t
BJT gage the highlights of the morning happenings:
a. With the evaluation assessment from ERA, she thought 'we' were looking at a different
type of ball game frn DEQE, that -by the time can get water in there and p roar i de a l l
those things to have a water supply it will some time, it has to be an interim so-
lution, DEE will be sending a 'letter of responsibility' to the Town, and what that
will do is trigger the process that per its thea to use I Super Fuad' moray, and to
have their 'FIT TEAMS", which is Field Investigative Technicians to look at the pos-
s i b i l i ter of interchanging the wells at Sumerwood, or, close dowry the bad wells and
hoof into the g ood wells. If they had their 1 drurthers' they would like to do a tem-
porary set-up, when they look at the Town's t erne fr'arr of putt i n in awater system
that would go- past the freezing system and that's in-ground.
b. The second thing they are concerned about sher's Path, that one house there and that
can't be meso 1 v d in the same manner, so wfiat they would look to thea using a fil-
tering
il-tering system; the concern with the filter is that it doesn't kill all the bacteria
however, forge Hwfelder of the BCS discussed hooking into the hot nater and they
thought that would be acceptable. In math the mere and Ashers Path situation
that would be acceptable for drinking water but they could not bathe.
CFB recapped the options:
1. Prov i d i ng water to the entire area , which we are work i n on but i3*saTewhere dawn
the line
2. Sorrrehow coming up to using the good wells in the &xffmrwxxJ area to provide water to
those we night be forced to close,
.. And for Ashers Path, to adopt a filter, and i irrrag i ne for a filter process for that,
