r
r,
I
I
i I
I
discuss any particular problem with Jack. It makes it very cur rs m . I have
to picture the situation fr m fair away when I get a complaint calx 1 from Elias.
If only you could direct your calls directly to Jack and he could rectify it on
the spot. We tried to get this in March but it hasn't happened.
c F : I dont like to do the Agents job. When I see something wr ng, I tell the
Agent or inspector to go out and investigate. Since Larch they have been getting
I
a hold of you rather than the manager. This is a slippage, frog now on we will
deal with the manger first. If I 'm going t g and inspect our will b notified.-
I
I feel that the Agents the expert, I ' just m a concerned individual.
R : We would also like to add that when you or any agent cores in for a inspection
please notify the manager, So that he can get the benefit of your comments.
We dont want to hear your personal comments through the press.
FB: We have never gone out of our way to put things in the press.
You have to realize that those meetings are open to thep r ss. We cant sa to
the press sit on this one. We never will .
R . We feel that we should be notified of complaints before they rdiscussed i n
an open meeting, so that we may have the opportunity to rmdle the situation.
FB: When I see something wrong, I tell the inspector to check it out on h i s next
inspection. This has been my procedure from the beginning. That evening
I had been in there and had had five peop l complain to me about Angelo' s
e also had a letter of complaint at the meeting. We read this letter at the
meeting and the discussion ensued. We did not invite the press.
RG: Dent you think reading an anynimeus letter that you know is going to be in
the press is somewhat unfair? The basis of our system is that the accused
has the night to confront the accuser.
FB: I would agree with you but when you are in our position where you have people
continuously making complaints, and oyu continuously toll them to put it in
writing and sign it. ,,We would be in the sane position we were in in March when
you asked where were our written complaints.
*RG: Mr McQuaid as the Agent has the right to follow-up on these c6m laints, the
entire procedure is established which is fair to everyone. We should have the
opportunity to say yesyou're right or we disagree with you.
EAM: The mini or walk-through inspection was , conducted in August. I was sent there
y the Agent. I noted seven violations upon -returning to the office I was 1d
y the Agent to call Mr Sturtevant- and notify hien. I did this and was told that
all violations would be taken care of within 30 mins, except for the broken tiles
which were on order. I was later told to return to the store again unannounced
to determine whether they were taken care of. This is the communication we have
have adopted. I have called Sturtevant on numerous occasions, or I send him
copy of a written complaint. The items had not been taken care of. So I put
y observations in witing. In fact I wrote: upon my return the store was very
busy, but the load lines should never be exceeded. This was the most crucial
I also noted, just to show fairness on our part that Bob Tall nt was in the
store Sat Morning and he found the store to be very clean.
i R : The fair thing would have been for ,you to have spoken to someone in the store
and said this, this and this should be taken care of.
JF: Load lines do not mean the product is bad,- this depends on the internal temp.
of the product, Some customers dig for the lowest i tme and in so doing stack
. what they' re removing higher that the load line. Same thing in the
produce
dept. the customer searches for the lowest item and thus' some products end up
on the floor. The point is that Mr McQuaid should have gone to slack. This
would have been corrected immediately.
EAM: I don't think so, because I told Nor Sturtevant exactly which units were over-
loaded and when I went back the same units were still overloaded.
May I interrupt? If we are going to get into specifics, I invite a formal
complaint. It seems a waste of time otherwise.
EAM: I ani only bringing this up 'to indicate that I d i d reach Mr Sturtevant to
give you the chance to correct the problems. This is the line of communication
