I <br /> MINUTES October 17, 1988 5 BOARD of HEALTH <br /> Mr. i p i one informed the Board that the pilot study will take appro - <br /> imately six weeks to complete. <br /> Mr. Han1ori informed- the Boa d that prior to ammending the Special Town <br /> Meeting article a meeting should be sheduled with D.E. .F. and also <br /> commented that he will forward to this Board a Written estimate on the <br /> entire project. <br /> . <br /> 1r. Buckingham presented himself before the Board to discuss the progress <br /> on the Transfer Station. <br /> Mr. Buk i ngham stated the committee has reviewed plans for the Transfer <br /> Station, revisions to original plans inc1ude changes in the entrance <br /> doors which will not be electrically driven but instead chain driven, <br /> two cuts will be rade in the road to the lagoon, the area in which the <br /> composte is proposed and metal pile will be capped. He stated a split <br /> rail fence .is proposed along the road. <br /> Mr. Buc ingham stated -the Transfer Station should open on Juane 1989 and <br /> will begin capping as soon as possible. He explained that estimates for <br /> the entire project including Capping is approximately $500,000-00. <br /> APPOINTMENT: June Daley and Ernest Virgilio regarding disposal of 1 ar e <br /> - - <br /> animals. <br /> Ms. Daley informed the Board that the State no longer picks up road killed <br /> deers as of Septembers 8, 1988. She stated the town now must select ars <br /> area in which to bury the animals - and commented dogs,..'Sheep and -farm a i-.. <br /> mals are presently the responsibility of the owners. Ms. Daley explained <br /> that with the current expansion in this town an area should be designated <br /> for the disposal of large an irna l s, such as the landfill area. <br /> 1r. costa suggested an area in the landfill in which the large animals be <br /> buried and requested.Mr.. Virgilio's cooperation with the Animal control <br /> Officer in adopting procedures for animal p i-ck -up and burials. <br /> Ms. Daley stated she would like to inform the Rod & Gun club when road <br /> killed deers- are found -and commented she will inform the State of her <br /> intent ions.. y w <br /> I <br /> Mr. costa reiterated -his earlier comments requesting the cooperation of <br /> i <br /> both departments in handling and burial of road kill d deers. <br /> Being no further business Mr. costa motioned to adjourn this meeting at <br /> 5: 0 p.m. , r.- Greelish seconded, all agreed. <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> Veronica Warden <br />
