Mr. Creel ish sec- <br /> onded, all agreed. <br /> APPOINTMENT: Paul oAsa l a - Title V Variance, 3 Pine Avenue <br /> Attorney Fred Grosser was in attendance representing the applicants. <br /> Attorney Grosser stated he is requesting a continuance of this Variance <br /> request as the- engineer has not submitted revised plans. acrd commented <br /> that 'three weeks WOur 1 d be sufficient time e for the engineer to complete <br /> the- plans. <br /> Mr. costa motioned to continue the Variance request until November 14, <br /> 1988 meeting,, Mr.. Gree i i s h seconded, .all agreed. <br /> APPOINTMENT : Weston & Sampson & C. Buckingham regarding Lagoon Repair <br /> Mr. alike Sipione, Pyr, Milne Hanlon, Charles Buckingham ngham and Ernest <br /> Virgilio were in attendance for this discussion. <br /> Mr. costa consulted with Mr. Hanlon and lir. Sipione as to -the proposed <br /> easement thru the landfill area., <br /> Mr. Sipione and Mr. Hanlon stated they will review the plan and comment <br /> on the proposal at their next scheduled appointment with this Board, Mr. <br /> Sipione did comment that the proposed e a'ser ent may be in the zone of con- <br /> tr i lout i on. <br /> Ir. Sipione informed the Board that they have researched for a possible <br /> solution to the grease problem and explained two firers have proposed <br /> a poss i b i e solution, one promotes "super bu s" , the other promotes adding <br /> enzymes and the bacteria which promotes enzymes to -hydrol i e the greases <br /> to reach a more biolo icaily degradable state. He commented these firms <br /> have agreed to a pilot -study, free of' charge, which would render the re- <br /> sults of their- findings to the town for future considerations. fir. Hanlon <br /> stated he would research , a pre-cost estimate arid forward ward -i to. this Board <br /> in writing. - He suggested 1eston . Sampson institute a benchmark pilot <br /> study, in order to confirm the findings of the firm and commented that <br /> they will be consulting -with the State and request t�e i r comments and re- <br /> commendations on this study. <br /> . } <br /> * s i p i o.ne explained the "process and cost estimate for' the pilot study <br /> to the. Board acrd -stated the town -could pilot the grease treatment system, <br /> if successful ) the material could be placed . in the septage lagoons. He <br /> stated discussion took place at a prior meeting regarding the conversion <br /> of the lagoons int a interium septa e treatment facility, by taking one <br /> of the lagoons and two of the perk ponds and converting thea to a S.B.R. <br /> process, this could take the place of a small scale pilot study and in- <br /> creased to a full s ale pilot study with an interium treatment facility for <br /> both grease and septage, however would add $300,000-00 to the cost for <br /> construction alone . <br />
