BOAC 1108 <br /> 48L MAS}-PEE, �++l <br /> 477-1777 <br /> REGULA110N FOR THE PROTECTION F PONDS, STREAMS, RIDERS, SURFACE AND SUBSURFACE <br /> MATERS of IAsHEB <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> The I ashpee Board of Health , pursuant to the authority conferred in Section 1 <br /> of Chapter Ill of the Massachusetts General Laws, and in recognition of the <br /> existence of a single continuous aquifer which serves as the sole source of <br /> dri nl i rig water for the Inhabitants of the Town. and in recognition of the fact <br /> that contamination of any pond, stream, river, surface or subsurface water of <br /> I ashpee would pose a significant hazard to the health of the Inhaoitants of <br /> the Town, hereby adopts the following regulations : <br /> REGULATION-.- <br /> 1 . <br /> EGULATION-.1 . The syphoning of water from any pond, stream, river, water course, surface <br /> or subsurface water Into a tank vehicle is prohibited in Mashpee unless <br /> the same is authorized and licensed as herein provided unless the Board of <br /> Health for good cause shown, grants a waiver. <br /> 2. Each water tank vehicle engaged in the syphoning of water from a private, <br /> community or non-community well or drawing water from a hydrant approved <br /> by a public or private water utility in Nashpee shall be inspected by the <br /> Board of Heafth. An inspection sticker shall be affixed to such vehicle <br /> by the Board of Health in a designated location. The sticker fee shall be <br /> $10.00 <br /> . The tank, pump, hoses and all other~ pump equipment of each water tank <br /> vehicle shall be free from all contaminants which may be injurious to <br /> the water source from which the water is being drawn. the water tank <br /> vehicle shal l be in good working order and shall not leak discharge <br /> any potentially hazardous contaminants. <br /> . For the purpose of these regulations , contaminants are defined as any <br /> substance or combination of substances which , due to quantity, concen- <br /> tration or physical , chemical or infectious characteristics , poses a <br /> significant present or potential hazard to human health if disposed of <br /> into or on any water in tree Town. Included within this definition are <br /> substances deemed to be hazardous in Massachusetts General Laws , Dapter <br /> 210 and also any substance that has been determined by the Commonwealth <br /> of Massachusetts through its various agencies, or by the Ignited States <br /> government through its various agencies, to be harmful or potential iy <br /> harmful to humans, animals or the environment,. <br /> . The syphoning of water frm any pond , stream, river or surface water <br /> into a water tanK vehicle for the purpose of mixing, spraying or apply-- <br /> Ing pesticides or herbicides from the tank, is pr{o,hibited , and no lic- <br /> ense shall be available for the sane. The purpose of this prohibition <br /> is to prevent the discharge or Introauction of herbicides or pesticides <br /> i"to tie sole source aquifer. <br />
