MINUTES September 5, 1989 3 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> f <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, in his opinion, the proposed plan is satisfactory <br /> and commented Dr. Deloura has had the handles removed on the wash basins <br /> and bubblers. Mr. McQuaid relayed primary concerns were the food prepara- <br /> tion area however, as long a s, 'this protocol is followed in the is i chen area <br /> no problems should arise. <br /> Mr.- Evans commented he does not feel there should be any drinking -re- <br /> strictions <br /> rinking .re- <br /> strictions and suggests this be discussed with the teachers. Mr. Evans <br /> stated he did not see any waste containers near the water bottles which <br /> could resuit in an infection control problem. <br /> Dr. Del oura responded that there are waste containers however they <br /> are not net to the water bottles. <br /> Mr. Evans suggested they be located next-to- the bubblers . Mr. Evans <br /> stated the pr-imary exposure to water is thru the food service, therefore .an <br /> exceptable source of water,, the Middle School , should be utilized. <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated he is unsure as to whether the requirements -of -Ah '1aw <br /> as far as notification -to the parents , has been followed. <br /> Mr. costa explained when ..the second round of testing is received,, depend- <br /> ring on its results, steps will be. taken for proper notif icatio.n. <br /> Mr. Hall relayed, in speaking with a representative from D.E.P. i t was <br /> discussed that this could be a long term situation. <br /> 4 <br /> Mr. costa stated he is satisfied with Dr. Deour'a's plan of action and <br /> would be willing to p rmit the school to institute the plan and allow the <br /> school to open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday however a Meeting imay be re- <br /> quired late Friday to discuss an -alternative course of action. <br /> Mr. Greelish stated one of the dilemma' s we are presented with now i <br /> even if -the new tests are found to be satisfactory, we must have a good answer <br /> for what happened. <br /> Nor, costa stated research on this ratter will begin tomorrow. <br /> Mr. Hall stated the results will ,be ready Friday afternoon. <br /> Dr. Petty questioned ..the Board as to whetter the Boards work will be com- <br /> pleted <br /> m- <br /> pleted by Friday., <br /> Mr. costa responded no and commented to call anyone in and question thea <br /> as to -the source of the contamination is premature at this time. <br /> Mr. Coffrie stated as a. general contractor he did not do the plumbing <br /> however he would like his -plumber made aware of any problems. <br /> . Hauck commented if the problem continues the building department may <br /> require the architect of the building perpetually supervise any corrections. <br /> ashpee Plumbing Inspector Leo Jolly stated he has a lead soder test kit <br /> that he spot checked in three areas at the school when he inspected the rough <br /> plumbing. Mr. dolly stated, as a result of his test he ascertained the plumber <br /> used the proper equipment. <br />
